Senior Technical Architect
Responsibilities:- Primarily responsible for the monitoring of thousands of API’s calls from technicians and customer care to determine problems and provide support teams with diagnostic information to fix and remedy the issue.
- Developed an internal Confidential &t dashboard showing all API activity including failures, response times error codes and other vital metrics.
- Perl scripts written to capture large amounts of data from logs, forward data to central host and insert into database for ease and quickness of query.
- Monitoring includes thousands of servers across multiple datacenters.
- Responsible for implementing perl scripts, updating code, creating and maintaining database tables, creating daily, weekly and monthly trending Excel reports.
- Completely automated the entire process, from log capturing, to database insertion to Excel report creation to report placement on a sharepoint for all access.
- Write and maintain automated perl scripts which simulate user activity in order to verify the health of the applications, including mail, dns, news, ldap and database servers. Script forwards any alerts to Netcool for problem determination.
- Write and maintain automated remote perl and shell scripts which alert on all types of server issues including errors found in log files, cpu problems, file system alerts, daemon failures and any other type of potential problems.
- Oversaw WebSphere System software including tier 2 support of mission critical applications. These include DSL and Lightspeed Registrations and all member profile activity.
- Unix Systems Administrator for AIX Netcool monitoring systems. Responsible for 24x7 availability as well as for all necessary software updates and security patches.
- Developed and helped create an internal dashboard which highlighted all API activity including issues with failures, longer response times, runaway transactions, etc… This dashboard is critical for technical support to see which API’s are currently failing and to put in corrective measures immediately. This process included the automation of big data via perl and oracle.
- Developed and created a log consolidation server containing automated perl scripts which pulled down thousands of log files from hundreds of servers to a single host. Also installed a mysql database on the host for inputting data from the logs.
- Transitioned the entire Netcool Monitoring Server Farm consisting of 10 servers, from Linux to Aix without interrupting service.
- Saved the company over a million dollars by designing and writing secure, reliable and responsive monitoring scripts rather than purchasing BMC Patrol agent software.
- Managed automated operations task which included testing different monitoring products including BMC Patrol, HP Openview, ACE and Netcool. Worked for a time on each platform, installing and maintaining the products.
