Responsibilities:
- Perform daily LAN system hardware/software maintenance and upgrades, - Advanced skills and hands on experience with CISCO 6509 & 6513 distribution layer switches and its hardware/software components/modules/supervisors/MSFC/SFM;
- Advanced skills and hands on experience with CatOS and IOS operating systems and its CLI;
- Solid knowledge of VLANs, layer 2 traffic forwarding, TCP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, ARP, IGMP
- Hands on experience with trunk port, ether channel, STP, VLANs, port speed/duplex/mdix, dynamic/static port security, span port etc…configurations,;
- Good understanding of layer 3 MSFC routing ;
- Be able to make/alter any type of configuration on the systems mentioned above;
- Expert level of working with Cisco images, redundant supervisor mode, high-availability mode, MSFC single router mode
- Ability to maintain/upgrade core level switches without (or minimal) downtime with the help of system redundancy features.
- Test new application/hardware/software in the lab which will be deployed within the LAN and document test results (802.1x port security, out of band management, software upgrades, supervisor/module/line card replacements),
- Test cross-vendor interoperability in the lab before the systems are deployed in the production network,
- Install and test new network systems in the lab before they are deployed in the production network,
- Deploy/replace tested and approved systems/components within the LAN/WAN segment
