Responsibilities:
- USCL: The data from the Global sources (GCL) are loaded into the Warehouse systems. The data is surrogated and then extracted from the source and is applied with the business logic where the ETL tool comes into picture. Then, it is loaded into the warehouse. Since data is huge, Datastage is used to apply logics. Wrapping of all the processes is done using UNIX Shell scripts and the interfacing to the database is done using DB2
- Test Bed: This is the process that uses the Datastage tool to load the data from one environment to the other with password-less connection. An entry in the table is made where the script runs to move the data (Masking the production data to lessen the visibility of data)
- Merge Purge: This is the process for name matching and the address matching of the data. There is a script which wraps the process and the Merge Purge software does matching on data. This process generates the Household id of an individual customer of the address (Anything is unique). This is used in heavy analytics.
- Data Quality Analysis: This is the process that is entirely done in ETL (Datastage). The file which is received from the Mainframe is completely validated. It checks for the headers and trailers with the records’ counts and the sum of counts from the actual data.
- Data Retention: As per the business requirement, we were storing the data for the past 3 years till this project kicked off. However, this process stores data for the past 10 years without much change in the production process time by introducing the data partitions concept. At monthly refresh the data is loaded into the tables, considering all the past, present and the future data which cannot afford a loss.
- Addenda Data Analysis: The data which is sourced is of transactional data and also the addenda data (Data about the transaction type). This addenda data is profiled using Information Analyzer for the data’s consistency from which we derived to source the addenda data into Warehouse.
- Involved in creation of SRS, Mapping documents and rebuilding FSR documents
