Responsibilities:

  • My other hat was to manage the Dallas datacenters 24/7 support team and to keep the networks running. I left to pursue other opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • My current responsibilities include managing a network/telecommunication team, a server/datacenter support team, a mobile technology center supporting police, fire, and other mobile computing devices, and a radio support team for the City’s radio network. In addition, the organization also has several support teams located in our departmental partner’s organizations including Dallas Water Utility, Library. Aviation, Police/Fire/E-911, and Human Resources.
  • Total employee count is 66 FTE’s with around the clock shifts for the datacenter and mobile technology center.
  • I am also responsible for managing three major managed service contracts currently in place for both telecommunication/network/security support (ATT), a desktop Support contract for desktop and service desk support (GTS) and managed service contract for E-911 support (ATT).

Infrastructure Manager

Responsibilities:

  • The Infrastructure Team was composed of three teams. These three teams were network and operations, desktop support, and telecommunications. The network operations group had 10 FTE. The desktop support and service desk had 10 FTE, and the telecommunications group had 5 FTE.
  • The Confidential network consisted of a redundant fiber loop servicing the downtown campus with a total of four small datacenters on the downtown fiber loop. A backup datacenter was built across town where we were going to replicate our computing environment giving us disaster recovery capability.
  • The Confidential built a wireless infrastructure using the Motorola MotoMesh product over the 75 square mile city proper. Both a licensed network for the delivery of public safety applications and another non-licensed network for other city services was built. The data was backhauled on a citywide backhaul network built using the Motorola dragonwave and canopy technologies.
