z/OS Support,

Responsibilities:

  • In this current role I support 4 accounts under the Confidential lean model. My role is to install, upgrade, patch, and apply security maintenance to the base operating system which is z/OS. Secondary role is supporting and upgrading all third pary products that run under z/OS for all client systems. Supported systems are from small two image systems to larger 34 lpar sysplex systems. Support JES2/JES3 and TSO/ISPF. To help support one client I was sent to Confidential class for GDPS Metro Mirror and Global Mirror to support the clients DR systems using Confidential GDPS.
  • Transition/Project lead to on board new Confidential Global out sourcing contracts. This includes working with Hardware and Software Architects to transition z/OS support into the Confidential Columbia center. Work with all other z/OS teams during transition as the other teams depend on the z/OS team to be able to do their functions. Work with customer and current support personnel at customer site to learn how the customers systems are currently supported. Documenting new procedures for the z/OS team to follow to support the new client.

Senior Systems Programmer,

Responsibilities:

  • Current job function is supporting all third party software that runs on Wal-Marts mainframe systems. This job requires immense knowledge of large Sysplex environments, GDPS and coding of modified exits using Confidential assembler language.
  • Install z/OS, PTFs, APARs, and other Confidential software using Confidential SMP/E. Prepare and coordinate RSU maintenance for multiple Sysplex environment. Work with Confidential on open PMR's. Receive new maintenance and read ++Holds for any system modifications needed.
  • Apply needed CA maintenance using CA-MSM. Install CA-MSM with TOM Cat server.
  • Modify vendor code to work in Wal-Mart environment using REXX and Clist.

  • Third was to monitor and troublshoot system and batch issues for a company running on a Unix/linux environment. I would troubleshoot basic shell scripts and escalate major issues to the on call. I also monitored hardware systems for backups and system errors.

Systems Engineer,

  • Main responsibilities include monitoring CA-7 job scheduler for production job abends, late jobs and jobs waiting resources. Fix JCL errors and schedule in adhoc job streams. Run DB2 spufi’s to determine job contention issues. Restart abended batch jobs. Work with support teams to fix complex batch issues.

AS400 Operator,

  • Primary responsibilities include monitoring batch job flow on the AS400; solve resource conflicts as they arise, and monitor all backup systems.
  • Computer Operations at Anderson was similar to a Help Desk environment. Computer operations received calls from the distribution centers Anderson has all over the U.S. helping end users with AS400 and printer problems.
