• Defined 4 tiers of capacity metrics framework containing business metrics, service metrics, workload metrics and infrastructure metrics to proactively manage Abbott SAP System serving for Abbott product sales, finance, supply chain and shipment. The top-down metric approach helped analyze how business metrics impact service, workload and infrastructure, systemically pinpoint down the performance/capacity bottlenecks in a large complex multi-layers world-wide SAP system.
• Collected the 4 tiers of metrics from various departments user counts, of Sales orders, of shopping carts, etc , WinRT tool capture key business transactions , SAP performance tool, BMC patrol tool on a monthly basis. Some metrics are collected automatically through UNIX shell scripting.

• Performed many sizing projects to provide the capacity requirements based on business plan, transaction volumes, and application characteristics using statistical techniques, data analysis, analytical and simulation modeling. Guided infrastructure teams and business units to allocate capacity of IT resources for the data center migration and UNIX virtualization.
• Used the Hyerformix-Optimizer capacity modeling tool to perform the server model selection for various applications. One server model selection work saved the company at least 1.7 millions of dollars to switch from Sun M5000 to X4600 for a re-platform project. The work used SPEC benchmark data, server model/processor designs, and application transaction volumes to predict the response time, throughput, CPU utilization, thread utilization and ending population on different server models/processors and provided an educated decision to land on an appropriate server model for a specific application.
