Field Service TechnicianResponsibilities:
- Customized Visual Foxpro Accounting Software modules of Sales Order, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Purchase Order, and Inventory Control. Added fields to data tables and added new tables when necessary. Modified the object oriented forms and reports of the accounting software for entry into new fields and tables and for all background functionality.
- Created General Ledger extract reports for management to use in an separate General Ledger system.
- Wrote dozens of special purpose reports using Visual Foxpro outside of the accounting system to access data within the system and sometimes merge it with outside data files.
- Designed and heavily customized an automated reporting engine which would fax or email hundreds of reports to the clients nursing agencies and to management daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly.
- Had a prototype custom order entry application built by an outside consultant, and modified it heavily with Visual Foxpro over the years to achieve rapid customer service ordering. Designed all background tables in order to make the program smart enough to make some decisions for the customer service representatives and perform a variety of background activity. Shippers tracking numbers could also be retrieved.
- Had a prototype nurse web ordering application written with the West Wind Software Tool, and modified it heavily to provide a functional and secure web ordering capability to the system.
- Created several EDI text output programs according to the specifications of clients vendors ie Johnson and Johnson. Utilized for some an automated FTP upload.
- Created several EDI text output programs according to the specifications of clients customers for the various software packages that they used, for electronic billing and their own internal needs. Some of these were very complex.
- Worked with the vendors from UPS, FedEx, and Airborne for their ODBC interaction with the Visual Foxpro system. When monthly electronic bills would become available from UPS I had a program that would cross check the UPS bills against the data which was created at the time of the shipment and track the changes. This was a very complex program.
- Created a custom application for client to use with new nurse agencies to organize and quicken the process of what was called formulary creation. Client might have five different products to treat the same medical condition and the nurse agency management would choose which product they would allow their nurses to order.
- Researched software vendors and solutions for the replacement system for this client. Selected Fitrix by Fourth Generation Software Solutions, a modifiable accounting software which runs on IBM Informix Server. Educated the vendor initially on all major customization requirements, then continued to be the answer man for the vendor as the client created their own detailed project specification. I selected Cybercon as the server host facility. Worked with the Unix firewall consultant to solve a problem with having two simultaneous connections to the internet from the main office. Put in place a prior employee of mine to do the data conversion work, and supported him on the tough technical issues.
