Systems / Data Engineer

Responsibilities:

For the majority of my time with Confidential, I was the sole engineer over the analytics tools: Confidential and Confidential in our data center and cloud environments, HPCS ( Confidential ’s cloud) and AWS. It was my responsibility to design the architecture of the systems to insure stability, performance, and security.
Confidential had a user - base of ~5000 unique users and a daily ingestion rate of ~430GB and Confidential had ~300 users with a daily ingestion rate of 400GB to 700GB. As I was the only analytics engineer, I was required to setup training sessions for the partners as assist with any problems or questions the users may have had.
It was also my requirement to work with management to understand their systems enough to determine needs and add new services like data ingest methods, data retention and anonymization, containerization strategies, etc.

Unix Admin / business application infrastructure

Responsibilities:

I supported 55000+ Solaris/RHEL hosts where I would perform maintenance, rebuilds, upgrades, and new system setup. I would also do consultation with our partners to determine how best to build and utilize their systems.
I also setup and ran training classes for the help desk so they could perform basic support for Unix e.g. user management and environment configuration, application setup, and basic troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

Provide support to the Department of Defense, Deseret Chemical Depot computers.
Build and maintain Windows 7 images to DISA specs and upgrade the facilities computers from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Install network cabling, monitor and move servers and desktop computers.
Assist with standard Help Desk roles.

Responsibilities:

Performed tier 3 support for a helpdesk consisting of 20 to 35 technicians for Confidential Mae’s internal Help Desk where we supported their employee’s. Performed or assisted with new hire training or new product training to the help desk and wrote technical documentation for internal processes and applications.
Perform problem analysis to insure and improve Confidential Mae’s internal infrastructure. Also perform all desk side support for the Salt Lake helpdesk including imaging desktops and laptops, configuration, installation and repairs.
