PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Confidential
Network/Engineer Architect Consultant
Responsibilities:
- Assess current infrastructure and write an Iplan for a Catalyst to Nexus switch migration.
- Delivered a 7 page document in where we would reduce the fabric from 53 to about 28 switches and move the core form Cat 4507s to the Nexus 9k.
- Confidential Inc. Senior Network Engineer 3/2016 - 7/2017
- Report directly to the Director of Global Networking on the current state of the network
- Recommend and deliver projects that stabilize, optimize and add value to Confidential s business model.
- Network design; rethinking and formulating a plan for Network failover and redundancy between the 2 datacenters. Scenario: We had BGP running in one datacenter with one ASN, now PP wanted to implement BGP for the main datacenters in North America.
- Troubleshoot 3rd level escalation tickets mostly systemic.
- Datacenter Network infrastructure Migration (Catalyst to Nexus). Drawing Up the High level and low level designs, cable matrices.
- Upgrading the DCI Circuits; we were paying almost $10,000 for 2 100 meg Circuits. After some remedial design analysis, I saw that these circuits were not redundant. In fact they were on the same local loop running to the same distribution panel and if on one went down the other would go with it. We were unable to load balance over these links due to the polarization of the layer 2 handoff.
- Solution: I went to light tower to light 10g of Dark Fiber between our DCs at half the cost and up our 2 internet circuits from 50 Mbps to 1Gbps using different providers not sharing the same local loop.
- Moved off the Legacy Catalyst switching infrastructure to the New Nexus 5548UP Fabric. I am currently still on this project.
- Migrate off the Radius solution we were using to a more robust AAA technology. We chose Cisco ISE Identity Services Engine; this would allow us to implement authorization privileges for the NOC to do minor troubleshooting before escalating ticket to the network team.
- Deployed ova VM in to offices deployed script to our network gear. This project is ongoing with the promises of us POCing and deploying NAC (and I thought it was a Unicorn).
- Train junior network engineers in network engineering /administration, the rudiments of network architecture and how to conduct one s self like a professional i.e. team dynamics, documentation and customer service.
