Confidential

Lead Database Administrator/ Systems Architect/ Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Director of Database services
  • Redesigned the Confidential company infrastructure from SUN-SPARC/Solaris 10 x86-64bit with attached storage to HP Blades/Servers running Linux OS SUES/Red Hat/ Oracle, with 3 PAR network storage, migrating from ZFS Zones to VMware 5.1 VMs or Oracle OVMs.

  • Evaluated Data Aggregation software like Jaspersoft BI, and Talend ETL, and Oracle ETL tools for parsing data from XML nightly feeds into Confidential Databases.
  • Troubleshooting various customer Database and Apps issues and worked to their resolution. For MySQL Data Mart customers worked out to set up MySQL Monitor and installing MySQL Agent remotely to monitor their local processes. Set up various MySQL logging within the database, and configured and tested an OS level log rotation process to clean up these many huge log files.
  • Written various documents on new technology, rewrite and set up new procedures, corporate reports, and customer facing issues.
  • Worked out and tested the many different paths for Confidential to upgrade in place or migrate from their former MySQL 5.0.51a Community version to 5.1.71 to 5.5.31 to reach MySQL 5.6.14 Enterprise edition. • Redesign of the Confidential software, from being one customer per database, to being Multi-tenant allowing the Confidential software to be able to silo an individual customer’s schemas and data in their own silo environment within a given MySQL database. Thus allowing Confidential to have on an average six customer per database depending on the parts of the Confidential software they use, and their usage demands, along with other related demands.
  • Worked out MySQL Replication, that with MySQL 5.6 Enterprise version we could set up Backup servers, Reporting servers, and DR for production. Also, through VMs either VMWare 5.1 VMs, OVMs, or ZFS Zones I would utilize these VMs in setting up DEV, Test, and QA environments that could easily be set up and refreshed as needed.
  • Managed many meetings and conference calls with Vendors, Customers, and company employees as a Project Manager.
  • Worked with MS SQL Server 2012, PostgreSQL 9.3, MariaDB to evaluate possible usage of these database types working with MySQL and Oracle DBSs.
