Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting and resolving all circuit degradation and connectivity issues, network performance, and system outages for over 1,000 Confidential locations around the world.
  • Support OneNet in troubleshooting routing issues through traceroutes, performance anaylsis tools, crypto errors, fiber converter settings, and tunnel configurations for all Confidential routers. Perform router validations with Verizon on all circuit upgrades and refresh projects. Responsible for configuring and supporting over 2,855 switches across the Confidential network, including Riverbed SteelHeads and Blue Coat Packet Shapers. Begin assuming ownership and support of all OCONUS routers.
  • Primary support for all wireless deployments. Create assigned vlans to core and layer 2 switches and configure trunk ports for each access point and fix static IP to each MAC through Infoblox. Create site node and flex - connect group in the WLC and configure each AP to its group while adjusting channel and signal (GHz) settings with support personnel on site. Drafted our wireless procedures/SLAs with our Federal Leads and created and maintain our wireless deployment documentation across all 3 LAN controllers.
  • Primary support for Blue Coat Packet Shapers. Create and maintain inventory of all packet shapers on the network, configure new installs, set shaping parameters, troubleshoot errors, and excise the unit when taken out of service.
  • Run network diagnostics in resolving latency issues utilizing SolarWinds, PacketShaper and OneGraphs to record packet throughput, bandwidth utilization and application usage. Findings have been discovered with long-running file backups, crypto mis-matches on the router, needing to point users to another domain controller, IOS upgrades that are needed, throttling back security scans, and latency found with the application servers themselves. In some instances have recommended that an increase in bandwidth be made.
  • Work with Deployment to configure user workstations for VoIP and data transmission. Cconfigure ports for voice & data vlans, configure QoS and PoE to ports, set aside IP range in Infoblox and configure the voice protocol on the subnet.
