Responsibilities:

  • Configure, monitor and maintain security on all objects related to the Fiserv Signature banking application which exceeded the expectations of external auditors. dis included authorization lists, group profiles, owner profiles and user profile settings to use the security setup properly. dis locked down the application objects so dat no unauthorized changes could be made. Found vendor installed program dat allowed *ALLOBJ authority when running and changed security to not allow dis.
  • System performance monitoring and adjusting. Setup IBM’s auto tuning and monitored for needed changes. Resolved performance issues using reports from IBM Performance Tools software. Improved the nightly processing times.
  • Planned, documented and installed cumulative PTF packages on 2 systems, 6 LPARs using the virtual optical drive. Worked with the business and vendors to schedule down times.
  • Planned, documented and installed 6.1.1 of i5/OS and the latest PTF’s on 2 systems, 6 LPARs using the virtual optical drive. Contacted vendors to make sure their software was compatible with dis operating system. Installed vendor software updates as needed. Worked with the business to plan for downtimes.
  • Planned, documented and installed firmware upgrades on two HMCs. Upgrades were successful.
  • Recommend hardware upgrades. Planned, documented and activated memory and processor, which was allocated across 3 LPARs. Installed IOPless disk controller cards, with IBMs support, to improve DASD me/O performance. Worked with local IBM Business Partner to purchase the hardware and the coordination of IBM Engineers to do the install.
  • System configuration - Add and remove DASD, create separate auxiliary storage pools, create printer devices, create tape drive devices, create communication descriptions.
  • Created disk space monitoring tool for monitoring disk growth and cleanup of unused objects dat runs once a week.
  • Create user cleanup tool to remove user profiles and user setup in the Signature application. Used when people leave the business.
  • Installed Fiserv fixed and modified code into Signature environments for testing and production using Aldon LMi source management application. Setup multiple environments for code testing.
  • Planned, documented, installed and setup Abstract. dis is a where used tool used by the development staff. Setup a process to weekly refresh the data in dis tool.
  • Planned, documented and installed Prodata’s DBU. dis is a database utility tool used by the development and operations staff.
  • Run disaster recovery tests with the iTera High Availability application. dis test deactivated the Production, Data Warehouse, and Development LPARs currently being used tan activated the High Availability equivalent LPARs at another location. Tan after running some tests to make sure the cut over looked good they were switched back and verified. Monitor iTera on a daily basis to make sure it is current and there are no issues.
  • Convert to EMC SRDF Hardware high availability solution from the iTera Software high availability solution. Run tests on the new Hardware DR solution which were all successful.
  • Restore objects, libraries whenever needed for research, issue resolution and testing.
  • Resolve technical issues either on my own or with support from vendors.
  • Use IBM Tape Library to save and restore objects and libraries and move tapes to the drive needed.

  • Installed and setup Aldon LMi source management software. Load Fiserv fixes and modifications into Aldon LMi for source management.
  • Create tools for the Help Desk to create, enable and disable user profiles. dis allowed users with profile issues to get back working faster.
  • Create tool to help with refreshing different Fiserv Signature environments. dis included copying out specific objects to another library to be used to copy back into the environment once rebuilt to retain specific environment information. dis allowed environment refreshes to be done faster.
  • Create tools to reset authorities after Fiserv Signature environments have been rebuilt and upgraded.
  • Developed and tested a new process to monitor disk usage on all 6 LPARs dat runs every 2 hours and sends an email for all day monitoring. Able to keep systems from running out of disk space and crashing.

  • Setup many test environments for Island Pacific, E3 Dynamic Replenishment, Lawson, JBA, PkMS and JD Edwards. dis included restoring libraries, setting authorities setting up memory pools for each environment, creating user profiles for access to each environment, which included specific CL programs to get into the environment.
  • Implemented security for several environments on one system so dat one business can’t see or change another business’s data.
  • Setup and used CCSS QMessage Monitor for single point message monitoring and escalation. dis made it easier for programmers and Operations staff to monitor messages across all systems.
  • DASD configurations using separate Auxiliary Pools and RAID or Mirrored protection.

  • Designed, developed, implemented and supported a set of Commands, CL programs, Queries and Files to refresh and cleanup an Island Pacific test environment. dis includes copying out specific files and data areas from the current test environment before the refresh begins. Tan after the refresh is done by clearing the specific libraries, restoring them from production and resetting the authorities, the files and data areas are copied back into the environment and tan data not needed is cleared and members are removed to clean up the refreshed environment. dis automated process saves several hours of manual processes each time an environment is refreshed with production data.
