Specialist Network Operations

  • Responsible for maintaining support on various customer accounts banks, hospitals, state government sites, etc. troubleshooting network problems involving failed circuits, configuration issues on routers, hardware replacements, etc. Responsible for troubleshooting network issues ranging from simple one circuit down with redundancy in place to complex network issues involving several critical sites impacted.
  • Worked with a dedicated team of 11 Engineer, responsible for all facets of technical and customer support for Kaiser Permanente, one the largest nonprofit healthcare providers in the U.S. 2001 2011 .

Environmental Support

  • Responsible for monitoring Cisco 5000 series devices at start of the contract in 2001. By 2011, the network grew to 27,800 monitored devices. These devices spread over about 800 sites including hospitals, MOBs, pharmacy warehouses, admin buildings, and 7 data centers. These devices were monitored 24x7.
  • Cisco 7500 and 7200 series routers were deployed at the core hub sites and the 3600 and 3745 series routers were deployed at the remote ends.
  • Cisco Cat 6500 series routers were deployed at the core hub sites 5000 series were phased out and 4000 series at the remote sites along with 3500 and 2900 access switches.
  • Concord CA was used in assisting customer with Network Capacity Planning as well as troubleshooting network slow response issues. Data was gathered via the Concord Application to determine if a site's slow response issue was due to bandwidth overutilization.
  • Configurations and IOS images were stored and backed up automatically to TFTP servers. Opsware was also a management tool used for storing configurations and IOS images. Cisco Works was used as a tool in checking the integrity of configuration version throughout the network, compiling software inventory of various IOS images.

Teamwork Troubleshooting Expertise

  • Responsible for delivering expert troubleshooting support on severity 1 and 2 cases to resolution while working with a team of individuals Verizon and KP via bridged conference calls, not always limited to Verizon's monitored/managed devices.
  • Contributed in meeting 90 of the SLA for priority 1 tickets in fewer than 3.5 hours.
  • Worked with Telco carriers AT T, TimeWarner, Frontier, Sprint, and Verizon when troubleshooting failed circuit issues on HDLC, ATM, serial, DS3s, and sonet links. Responsible for working with Telco on failed circuit issues until resolved. Provided loops to Telco remotely from routers as well as from the Nortel Passport interfaces for T1s and DS3s.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and configuring customer enterprise LAN/WAN environment.
  • Worked with field technicians in instructing on hardware replacement and partial configuration for remote access in order to complete IOS upgrades and complete configuration downloads to the device. These devices included various models of Cisco routers and switches as well as wireless devices.

Leader / Mentor

  • Mentored and assisted in the skill development for 8 people in North Carolina, and 5 in Manila, Philippines, that was brought onto the KP account team.
