Infrastructure Manager

Responsibilities:

  • I managed six teams covering all aspects of the infrastructure. This team of over 40 people cover disciplines of service desk, desktop support, server, storage, networking, hosting, monitoring, dbase, and procurement.
  • The infrastructure consisted on Windows servers and desktops and supported custom developed and COTS software running on Windows, Solaris, Redhat, cloud based servers.
  • Dbases were SQL and Informix that interacted between local and cloud based servers.
  • I provided the architecture design to allow for migration of all servers and services to the Azure or AWS Federal cloud when the agency was ready to make the migration.
  • During this position I have organized the groups into an interactive team and implemented DevOpsSec practices and an Operations Kanban board to manage the throughput and work in progress limits of the team. I participate in multiple cross functional boards of a mix of government and contractors to establish and approve technical design and changes that benefit the agency and the end users.

Responsibilities:

  • Provided the engineering support for new applications entering the d Confidential center. Each application is evaluated for systems resources and requirements. I have developed processes for evaluating the applications and implementing them into the center.
  • I am currently developing the architecture for the customer’s global cloud environment. This process includes the required systems, network, storage, and user interface to meet the end user’s needs. The enterprise management tools for running the environment have been evaluated against the Request for Proposal requirements.
  • Promoted to Engineering and Testing Manager to direct the new initiatives for d Confidential center automation and consolidation. Participated in the vendor selection for the next generation of the center.
  • I integrated the testing team into the application inclusion process to enable development of testing plans to insure application performance.
  • As the Enterprise Architect I was responsible for the technical baseline and overall architecture of the d Confidential center. The enterprise d Confidential center consisted of Vmware ESXI 5.0 5.5, and 6.0 hosts.
  • All were managed by vCenter and the various storage technologies were used to create a multi-tenant virtual environment providing secure and isolated virtual machines for the client commands.
  • I supervised the implementation of best practices and compliance for the d Confidential center and managed the Engineering team. I was responsible for designing the d Confidential center and all infrastructure for secure multi-tenancy.
  • The inclusion of a SharePoint based ECM solution was used to allow individual commands to upload their files, projects, and other content into their individual repositories but also allow for an enterprise search of all repositories for approved content.
  • Designed and deployed a Horizon View VDI solution for testing. There were 100 users that were provided a Windows 7 and Windows 10 desktop. This solution proved to be robust and cost effective.
