SUMMARY

  • A self-motivated IT professional with over 20 years experience ranging from strategic development of IT solutions through to implementation and support. I am able to work confidently as part of a team or independently, working to tight deadlines as required, whilst delivering high quality.
  • As the network administrator for ViaQuest my daily duties where to monitor the network, maintain network diagrams and complete any project work assigned by the IT senior manager. One of the first projects I had was to set up network access, servers and migrate domains, data and exchange mailboxes from two companies that had been purchased. Another project was to evaluate an upgrade/replacement of the firewall and present my findings to IT senior management team.
  • While with Unisys I have been involved in numerous projects. One key project for the UK Metropolitan Police was the set up and testing of a mobile platform for collation, editing and viewing of video and audio evidence. This involved building an image for the client-chosen hardware and software packages and creating build documentation to ensure a standard reproduction of the platform. There was also a requirement to liaise with 3rd party support personnel to rectify operational issues. Once the project was complete I had to train client staff on the end-to-end process. This took the form of one to one training sessions and operational notes written while testing the solution.
  • Another key project, with which I was heavily involved, was the upgrade of the National Control Center NCC for Railtrack the operational management centre for the UK rail infrastructure. Change management was a key challenge on this project as any outages could have safety implications on the rail system. The plan to relocate the NCC, the acceptance test and sign off of the refurbished office and the hand back of control was very carefully documented and authorized by change control to ensure minimal safety risk. Also within this upgrade was the introduction of new hardware, which was specifically aimed to assist the controllers in performing their duties. My role was to ensure the new platform would function according to the requirements.
