One design used cryogenic system to freeze fluids.
Two other systems tested DNA samples. The smaller unit was a desktop unit. Additional cells could be added to the unit for multiple testing. The larger unit was designed into a roll-around. Samples were put on glass plates in a tray. The samples went through the machine, the plates were bar coded, tested, information was loaded into a computer, and the samples came out the other end of the machine.
All the machines had some type of automation system built into them.
