- Oversee project team that includes personnel specialist, contractors, and computer operators, and less experienced systems programmers and analysts. Plan and conduct analyses of projected work processes, operational practices, installations, and maintenance for an agency-wide system. Lead and direct the technical aspects of complex and large scale development projects involving Legacy systems to include mainframe hardware configurations, documentation and schematics for the IBM z series systems which consist of all IBM TotalStorage DS6000 Systems as well as supporting the IBM TotalStorage 3500 Tape Library with 3592 Tape Encryption. I perform analysis that support problem resolution activities and implement major enhancements for established systems integration of system components, procedures, database policies, software, and hardware by coordinating project activities with mainframe systems software and hardware staff, and IT security staff. Also utilizing support by coordinating with vendor's representatives in the installation and testing of all new Mainframe hardware and software.
- For the past 27 years in this position, I have been responsible for installing, updating and maintaining the current software including the production z/OS1.11 operating system using SMP/E. - As the Telecommunications Systems Programmer for The Department OF The Treasury I am responsible for ensuring that all data communications equipment functions properly in support of the BEP Bureau of Engraving and Printing's mission. I manage and operate Confidential complete operational data communications network, including the network to Confidential. This includes maintaining up-to-date configuration diagrams, scheduling/providing installation, user assistance, and technical support. I function as the Network Engineer for the Bureau's Wide Area Network and TCP/IP Local Area Network as well as the IBM SNA TCP/IP Networks for the past 25 years. In this capacity I'm responsible for maintaining all routers and network equipment such as hubs, switches, controllers, and the front-end processors also the Enterprise Extender configuration. I monitor these devices using tools such as Confidential. Some of my other duties are to evaluate and test software and hardware as it pertains to BEP'S Networks and, Mainframe environment. I have also played a major role in the design, installation and implementation of both major Local Area Networks installed at the Bureau. All Novell Saa servers were also my responsible for connectivity to both the Network and Mainframe. As per my 32 years of experience in the IBM mainframe world as an OPERATOR and VTAM SYSTEMS PROGRAMER I have assisted in installing 8 IBM Mainframes Operating Systems including z/OS 1.11. I am also responsible for all IBM hardware installations using IBM s Hardware Configuration Definition software utilizing the IBM Hardware Configuration Manager and most IBM and OEM software using SMP/E. Due to this the customer also looks upon me as the backup to the LEAD SYSTEMS PROGRAMER for MVS z/OS operating systems. I have been a member of the Disaster Recovery Team at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing since the programs inception 19 years ago. Other duties include maintaining the BEP data communications network documentation and schematic. Ensuring that the data communications network schematic and documentation is at all times complete and comprehensive. That the data communications schematic and documentation include up-to-date configuration diagrams complete with room numbers and specific locations, specific configurations hardware/software , network switches, routers, communications from the mainframe, connections, make and vendor specifications, routing and channel connections.
- I also manage all mainframe security issues and systems to include Top Secret and assists all BEP OIS Staff with JCL changes/ programming, problem solving, and implementation/installation of mainframe software. I conduct education/training appropriate to BEP personnel as directed by the COTR as to the specific nature of the data communications network schematic, security and documentation and for the detailed design for the data communications network changes. Such design modifications are subject to approval of the COTR.

- I began my career at BEP installing a remote dial-in system to access the IBM mainframe. This system is still currently in use at BEP for select personnel in emergency situations. I was responsible for all mainframe communications and established the data communications between Confidential was opened. I worked with BEP personnel to develop and implement the Disaster Recovery Contingency Plan. I also supported the systems staff with maintenance and program products installation. I trained operations staff on the use of different network monitoring tools and what actions to take to resolve known problems. I worked alongside with IBM personnel on the upgrade and installation on much of the hardware installed at BEP both in the past and the present. I assisted in the development of the on-line documentation system also still being used today. I established communications between the IBM and WANG systems and maintained the connectivity between the IBM and the WANGNET.
