- Design and construction of a 9000+ user W2K/Exchange 5.5 user messaging/NetApp NAS storage system. Included a multi-domained and multi-server Exchange Site comprised of 30+ MS Exchange mailbox servers. Responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing a complete data storage/backup and disaster recovery NAS for this NT / Exchange messaging system, including local site Disaster Recovery (D/R), Data mirroring and D/R to a remote COOP site.
- Design and construction of an 8TB NetApp iSCSI SAN solution. Included hardware setup of storage devices, fiber channel cabling, Cisco Router gigE configuration, RAID configuration, kernel and OS configuration. Installation and configuration of all SAN software to include local data backup/archiving, offsite data mirroring and local and offsite D/R. The SAN was configured to provide local site data protection using block-mode database snapshot backup technology, offsite backend database mirroring, disaster recovery contingency planning, and local and offsite data backup/archival/retrieval systems.
- Migration of the 9000 user MS Exchange 5.5 Site NAS to this new MS Exchange 2003 SAN solution.
- Built, configured, and deployed an enterprise Tape Backup platform using a 130 terabyte robotic tape library deployed to perform daily backups of the 100+ Windows and Exchange messaging backbone server environment.
- Performing overall project analysis and implementation of a large migration effort to transition the Dept’s entire unclassified email System from a “multi-platform” messaging environment - including Wang Office, CC:Mail, MS Mail - to a “single-platform” messaging environment of native Microsoft Exchange 2003 only.
