Experience

Manager, Development Services

As manager of development services my duties include overseeing the development department which includes 3 employees. My department is responsible for all SQL servers as well as providing data extracts and reports from this data. Many times our data requests involve retrieving data from multiple systems and combining them for a single report. We also write and maintain the hospital's internal and external web sites.

IT Technical Administrator

• The Regional Medical Center at Memphis cancelled its contract with CSC and my position was migrated to Regional Medical Center at Memphis. Many duties were the same as those performed as a CSC employee, with the addition of service as SQL DBA. As SQL DBA I maintained the Microsoft SQL database, scheduled and monitor performance and backups for all databases and sercvers. The hospital has over 30 Microsoft SQL servers, with more than 60 databases for different applications.
• Data extractions and reporting included all facets of Health Care information including, charges, billing, and patient demographics. Many reports were written to assist in revenue recovery and business develpoment. Most of the data came from our applications such as Meditech, Nextgen, GE CPN, Siemens Soarian, Medhost ED, SIS Surgery, and API Payroll.
• My duties as SQL DBA also included writing data extracts for end users, creating applications and reports, and providing ad hoc reports as needed.

Server Administrator

• Contract position at Regional Medical Center at Memphis from January 2007 to December 2009. Migrated to Regional Medical Center employee on Jan. 1, 2010.
• Maintain servers and provide level 2/level 3 support for 450 bed hospital. Duties include installing/maintaining file servers MS Windows and Linux , troubleshooting hardware, OS, and application issues on servers, maintaining EMC SAN, and troubleshooting hardware/software issues on desktop computers.
• The network consists of 135 server and 1800 workstations. Server hardware includes Dell Power Edge servers and HP Proliant Servers using internal RAID hard drives and connected to an EMC SAN. The network uses Cisco switches and routers connected via both fiber optic and twisted pair cable.
• Application support includes maintaining over 100 programs installed throughout the hospital. I am responsible for upgrading programs and troubleshooting issues at both the server and desktop level, working with a team of Level 2 and Level 3 desktop support techs. I also assist in troubleshooting network connectivity issues with the network administrator, especially when server access is affected. I also serve as the SQL DBA for those applications using MS SQL, scheduling and maintaining backups of the data, and creating reports.
• Additional duties include overseeing the data backups which backs up approximately 8TB of data nightly using 4 tape library robots and Veritas Netbackup. I also maintain the EMC SAN which includes managing the mirror link between our SANs in Memphis and Nashville.
• In February 2010 I was the team leader in relocation of Nashville data center to Memphis moving/consolidating over 40 servers including main hospital HIS. This also included migrating to VMWare virtual servers for our Meditech application.
• In February 2010 I designed implemented a Disaster Recovery plan for our main H.I.S. application. This plan included moving data to an off-site location and configuring servers to run the application if our primary system failed.
• In March 2010 I assisted with migration of Radiology PACS image storage from EMC Centera to Iron Mountain DRCMI storage.

Professional Consultant

• Providing network consulting, PC hardware/software support, Internet connectivity, and Web site development. These duties have involved implementing Web servers with SQL applications, application development in MS Visual Basic and MS Access, installing/supporting MS Windows 2000/2003 servers, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft SQL . I have also been involved in designing and implementing wireless networks providing secure access for wireless users, as well as installing and configuring routers and firewalls for Internet access.
• As a contract support engineer, I have been responsible for the system administration of thousands of users spread over dozens of companies. As system administrator, I manage user and data security, setup and configure Internet connections including DSL, Cable, T1, and dial-up, and monitor bandwidth utilization on their networks. My duties also include inventory management and offering advice for system upgrades. One of my clients is a property management firm with over 130 property locations. I provide the hardware service and support for the properties, as well as configure and manage their Internet connectivity.
• I also provide server administration for a number of companies. As their IT support provider, I am responsible for maintaining all servers, switches, routers, telecommunications equipment. These duties include determining hardware and software requirements, bandwidth requirements, and security requirements. Along with installing and maintaining the hardware, I manage user security, Email servers MS Exchange , and Web Servers. Some of these clients also rely on me to prepare annual budgets for their IT expenses.
• Additional duties include providing both remote and on-site system administration, installation and repair of computers, printers, and network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
• I have done a lot of work setting up internal DNS and DHCP servers, as well as configuring Web servers and Web applications. I have also worked with ISPs such as BellSouth, Time Warner, and Xspedius setting up customer Internet connections and DNS entries for their Web and Email applications. I have also installed and supported a number of MS Exchange servers, as well as SPAM filtering and virus checking applications for them.
• Other experiences include installing and servicing commercial satellite television and Internet connections. I have helped setup and configure head-end units for internal CCTV systems, as well as satellite Internet high-speed connections, and DVR recording equipment for surveillance.

Director of Network Services

• Duties included: Managing support engineers and PC technicians involved in the installation, service and support for Novell, Windows, and UNIX network systems. I have directed the installation of more than 200 Novell and Microsoft NT systems, and managed service on more than 2000 network nodes. These networks ranged from small 2 to 5 user networks to systems with more than 500 users. Service for these networks included system administration such as managing users and data, to configuring and maintaining wide area networks links. This position reported directly to the president of the company. The service department manager reported to me.
• I also provided consulting services to help customers evaluate their current network systems and plan for future needs. This involved creating a detailed synopsis of their current hardware and software, and evaluating new hardware and software that may be of benefit to their company.
• Other duties included developing and managing database applications and processes for internal use to manage service/support data, inventory, order processing, and billing.

Account Manager

Responsibilities included designing and creating sales proposals for hardware, software, and network systems. I was responsible for the entire sales process from initial contact to proposals, sale, and implementation. I also maintained relationship with accounts, established new accounts and contacts, and handled incoming support calls for my clients.

Shipping/Receiving Clerk

Duties included: Managing shipping/receiving department. Responsibilities included recording receipt of merchandise, directing storage and delivery of merchandise to sales floor, shipping out-going returns and transfers, and processing invoices and freight bills for payment.
