Responsibilities:

  • Configured and installed Solaris, HP-UX and Red Hat Linux Servers using jumpstart, Ignite and kick start.
  • Responsible for DNS and Configured DNS Servers and Clients, troubleshooting DNS issues.
  • Co-ordinate with web admin team in installation of BEA Web Logic Server 8.1.
  • Installed configured and managed Oracle Real Application Cluster RAC and Oracle Data Guard on Solaris, HP-UX and Linux Servers.
  • Experience in building of new servers which includes rack mounting, installation of OS, configuring of various OS-native and third party tools, securing of OS, job scheduling and setting up cron jobs.
  • Installation and Administration of IBM TIVOLI, BMC patrol and Nagios system monitoring tools.
  • Building, Installing and configuring Veritas cluster Server, Red Hat Cluster Server RHCS and HP MC Service Guard.
  • Package management using RPM and Yellowdog Updater Modified YUM in Linux
  • Involved in disk configuration and disk crash recovery using format and fdisk. Bad spots on disk were repaired using repair and analyze.
  • Worked with SAN in EMC CLARiiON disks, their configuration and installation of power path.
  • Providing day-to-day user administration like adding/deleting users and managing user's queries. Shell programming for routine administration tasks. Analyzing and monitoring system performance through various system tools such as netstat, iostat, top, vmstat.
  • Implemented System policies and hardware profiles, hard disk configuration for fault tolerance, disk mirroring and back up the data using Veritas NetBackup.
  • Involved in installation, configuration and administration of Apache Web server and Samba Server in UNIX and Linux environments.
  • User accounts management, developing korn shell scripts for various system performances monitoring purposes and troubleshooting.
  • Performed problem determination and restored service using standard procedures.
