SUMMARY:

  • I am seeking a position as a UNIX/Linux administrator in support of UNIX/Linux systems. I have wide experience with UNIX, Linux, Confidential ONTAP OS, and Windows servers in a large data - center environment and the tasks related to maintaining and programming them. I have worked with Solaris 10.x, HP-UX 11, and RedHat Enterprise Linux 4.X/6.X (As well as many other Linux distributions such as Debian/Ubuntu and Suse) in these large, distributed environments, using SAN and NFS technologies.
  • My skills cover the gamut of administration, design, and development with these systems, from small embedded systems to computing clusters. I have recently worked with Python, Shell, assembler, PERL, as well as PHP and C (Which is the first language I used, and have continued to use since 1989).
  • I am comfortable performing testing, interacting with vendors, recovering damaged systems, and working with the operating system as a whole from the ground up. I've become skilled in writing batch files, shell scripts, and other scripting/automation methods for managing large numbers of systems. I have worked on each component of the system from the kernel, user interface, and applications, in particular web servers, databases, and virtualization products like VMWare. I've also written various programs, large and small, to automate data transfer, account management, performance tuning, system monitoring, and much more. All of these tasks have given me an unprecedented level of expertise in working with the operating systems desired and the products that run on them.
  • I have a total of 18 years of experience in the engineering, financial, insurance, pharmaceutical, storage, and telecom industries, working with mixed networks of Linux/ONTAP/Solaris/HP-UX and Windows systems. I am accustomed to working in a mission-critical position and within strict up-times (5 9's) because of the time-sensitive data we processed as well as the day-to-day data flow in large volumes. I feel that I would be a excellent fit for the position due to my extensive development experience as well as the large variety of other skills I have accumulated over the years.
  • I am a hard worker and I enjoy challenges, technical and otherwise. I hope to be able to provide the best value for your company and improve existing processes for the best possible combination of software and hardware.
