This included inventorying the entire unix environment, installing performance monitoring tools, and writing scripts to benchmark current environment thresholds. Once information was collected, I contacted EMC, IBM, Dynamix, and a few competing vendors to coordinate our expectations for the new hardware. Upon agreeing on both hardware requirements and performance requirements, I facilitated the implementation of Dual Redundant VIO servers for our production and development environments. I continued to work on building our DR facility in West DesMoines, Iowa. I worked with EMC LPS to carve up storage, zone storage to VIO servers, map storage to the appropriate lpar and then configure storage to be used by volume groups on each system. I successfully built a data migration plan and implemented an in place server migration which minimized server downtime to under 1 hour. I successfully migrated tivoli from p650 hardware connected to a 3494 tape library with a tape capacity of 20 - 40GB tapes to a p520 connected to a TS3310 tape library with LTO4 tapes with a capacity of 1.6 Terabytes with the assistance of the Dynamix group. I setup ether channel fail over devices on each system to ensure the systems would not take an outage. I tested and implemented fail over functionality across the board to ensure there would not be a single point of failure. I tuned each system according to EMC and IBM's best practices. In addition, I wrote software packages, written in perl, that uses mysql, html, php, css, and java script to maintain and deliver all financial transactions to and from all banks and vendors with whom Helena Chemical and Helena Lending does business. This software package replaced a previously bought solution.

I wrote Engineered programs to report system resources with real time results This helped to Streamline and automate UNIX server builds including application monitoring with regard to escalation. I worked with the operations group to further investigate netbackup and Tivoli storage Manager for disaster recovery efforts. I worked closely with the operations team to build a warm Disaster Recovery site. I priced, and quoted new IBM P570 series system requirements for the 2006 calendar year. I generated real time reports to help JDE security team better evaluate UNIX processes. Implemented a nim server environment to aid in backup and recovery efforts. I also wrote programs that could extract aix system kernel resource levels and generate graphs for high level reporting.
