Senior Consultant for System Center Configuration Manager, Application remediation for Windows 7, Windows 8 and SCCM 2012 as well as ChangeBase. Configured ChangeBase to extract application inventory from SCCM and deterime RAG reports Red, Amber, green to determine which application would be compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8. Determine the level of effort required to move to the new OS Platforms. Red meaning that the applications would be incompatible with the platforms and would need to be upgraded, replaced or virtualized, Amber meaning that ChangeBase could fix some of the applications by editing the application itself or the imported MSI's or Green meaning the application could be used as is on the new OS platforms.

Windows 7 Deployment

For Kimco Realty Corporation, configure SCCM 2007R2 and Windows 7 images for deployment via PXE using USMT for data migration. Tasks included integrating Lab into production environment as well as overcoming obstacles such as company GPO's and AD workarounds as the company did not want to extend the production schema. Also did troubleshooting of the existing system for software distribution issues. It took about 10 hours to push out a 30 Mb package. Determined the root cause to be a SAN they were using and reduced the distribution time to around 30 minutes using server local storage.

The project entailed designing and implementing a SCCM solution as part of Windows 7 deployment Agency wide about 35,000 seats . Over 200 applications needed to be categorized high medium or low complexity remediated, upgraded and tested for the Windows 7 OS.

Also, due to security requirements/constraints, SCCM was implemented in Native mode to address some of the multi-domain constrictions that did not have adequate trust relationships established.

  • As part of a large migration from legacy messaging systems to Exchange 2007, I led the System Center team which planned, designed, implemented and customized SCCM and SCOM to patch and proactively monitor the new and legacy systems. SCOM was customized to integrate with SMARTS and Remedy. In addition, SCOM was able to overcome several limitations of the company's existing HIDS solution. The SCOM solution was built to be highly available and redundant using Clustering and SQL 2005 Log Shipping. Both systems were designed to support over 3000 servers. At the conclusion of the pilot, we were proactively monitoring and patching over 250 servers. The SCOM solution proactively identified and in some cases resolved over 40 issues including AD, Exchange, Blackberry, OS, SQL and hardware issues before they caused denial of service.

We are also challenged with managing the Legacy NT 4.0 environments with Native Mode operations as they did not support Kerberos authentication.
