This solution included recommending monitoring and reporting best practices, and implementing these best practices to provide both management and engineering with daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the overall and detailed health of both UNIX and Windows environment. Used ITM TEC to setup Custom Views and ITM Situations to monitor both hardware and application processes to trigger warning and critical alerts. Configured ITM to monitor both Windows services and UNIX logs with custom scripting. Provided best practices to take all the information gathered and send it to NetCool and CRYSTAL Reports.
Senior Developer / Tivoli Subject Matter Expert
Primary role was to serve as subject matter expert for all enterprise management services using Tivoli Configuration Manager 4.2 Inventory and Software Distribution and IBM Director, for one of the largest federal agencies. Used Tivoli Software Distribution in a RED HAT development environment to create packages of critical services to be distributed to on secure systems on secure cites. Used Tivoli Inventory to automatically discover native software packages for both Linux and Windows endpoints. All of this work done in a full service Test and Validation environment. As the subject matter expert, I created the packages in TCM, Created the test plan for the test team, Overseer of the test team for validation, and then moved the package to Production. Created documentation to help troubleshoot issues such as distribution status, where to find log file information on TMRs, managed nodes and other targets, how to check for MDists problems, how to make sure that Framework is functional, verify endpoint etc. Designed and developed high end solutions for the government, using COTS products and custom perl scripting. Overseen all development testing and verification. Migrated customer from TCM 4.2 to Tivoli Provisioning Manager for deploying critical software for both bare metal installs as well as software upgrades and for it's inventory capabilities. Customer also migrated to Tivoli Net Cool.
