Technical Consultant III/Technical Lead Data Center Services

Responsibilities:
  • Team Lead for Data Center Firewall Services (Design, Engineering and Implementation teams)
  • Designed and implemented data center solutions using the Juniper SRX (240, 650, 3400 and 3600) series firewalls along with SA4500 and MAG6611 hardware. Engineered end-to-end solutions which encompassed Enterprise Cloud Services/Virtual Private Cloud products, leveraged security, switching, Internet access, and managed remote solutions (VPN and WAN).
  • Excelled in assisting account managers to “land and expand” the installed product/solution base through product presentation and education of customer executives, managers and engineers.
  • Specialized in supporting sales and solutions for Infrastructure as a Service including leveraged/dedicated firewall (Juniper SRX, Cisco ASA and Checkpoint), IP transport, firewalls, switching and SSL-VPN’s.
  • Excelled in assisting account managers to “land and expand” the installed product/solution base through product presentation and education of customer executives, managers and engineers.
  • Sold, engineered and implemented a Cloud solution that migrated 20 USPS accounts in two data centers to a single data center. Customers were migrated from Cisco routing, switching and firewall hardware to a leveraged solution using Juniper SRX firewalls, SA4500 VPN devices, Brocade switching hardware and HP C7000 blade server. This effort resulted in saving over $3 million annually for HP in data center charges along with an initial monthly uplift of $120,000 in network services, $225,000 in Cloud services and hardware sales totaling over $1.15 million.
  • Migrated 35 separate SSL-VPN profiles from the SA4500 to the MAG6611. This included updating of firewall rules on the account SRX firewalls to allow new source IP address pools, changing the internal routing from statics on the SA4500 to using a default route on the MAG and then OSPF in the CORE.
  • Provisioned, tested and turned up account solutions based on leveraged and dedicated fiber-based IP circuits along with Juniper SRX 3400/3600 FW’s, SA4500 VPN Concentrators, F5 load balancers, Brocade Core (MLX32) and Edge (FCX648/TurboIron24) switches and HP C7000 blade chassis.
  • Migrated multiple Medicaid State Networks from their existing private line network with on-site compute and storage hardware to a HP Enterprise Cloud Services solution. By utilizing IaaS (firewall, switching and managed SSL-VPN) customers accessed the self-provisioning portal to build Hybrid clouds as needed. For example, the UAT phase of a new prescription ordering system was provisioned, tested and torn down in less than two months. Users were able to test from the public Internet to virtualized Web Servers while sys admins could work on the back-end systems via the SSL-VPN.
  • Virtual Private Cloud solutions included the ability to manage bandwidth, provision firewalls, provision VM’s and allocate storage based on demand. For example, a large public sector entity built their own private cloud to augment their tracking application for the holiday season. The VM’s were hosted across multiple dedicated blade servers across multiple C7000’s and utilized F5 load balancers and CheckPoint FW-1 running on HP silicon. The customer was able to pre-provision web servers and automate their addition to the Server Pool on the F5 BigIP 8900.
