SONET On Site Engineer
Responsibilities:- My responsibilities as the administrator of the Cisco ONS 15454 SONET network for Joint Base Mcguire - Dix-Lakehurst, NJ, entail monitoring network performance, performing installation of new services and circuit types, troubleshooting network issues, as well as procurement of new equipment and new technologies to extend network capabilities and service life.
- During time spent on-base, I have ensured compliance with all set USAF standards and ensured 99.999% reliable uptime of network connections. I have trained USAF active duty personnel in SONET technology as well as Cisco ONS15454 architecture.
- When possible I offer assistance to active duty personnel with their daily duties in a Cisco network environment.
- With the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2012, I was able to assist with ensuring continued communications between FEMA, National Guard, Navy, USAF, and Coast Guard personnel. My work center was recognized directly by the Vice President of the United States for our efforts. I currently posses an active US Government SECRET clearance.
