PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Confidential, San Jose, CA
Staff Systems Engineer
Responsibilities:
- Deployed an infrastructure of network proxies in three data centers for use by servers and automated software updates.
- Each proxy is a customized Squid app within a Red Hat Enterprise Linux O/S running as a VM. All proxies use authentication from LDAP/AD servers and log events/activity to the Infosec team.
- The proxy destinations are allowed from access lists and centrally managed from a Puppet Master Server secured in a 2FA VLAN. Worked with an ISE project initially set up to ensure that network switch ports are regulated based on the identity of each end point hardware.
- Fixed and maintained the Access Methods Nagios server. Worked with and tested GTM and LTM sets of F5 load balancers to ensure coverage and functionality of the Corp IT Server Squid Proxy infrastructure. During this time, I repaired an offline NAS device and upgraded an older NAS system.
- I upgraded a variety of servers and modernized the SSH public key infrastructure by replacing RSA/DSA keys with Ed25519 key pairs in selected venues.
- I participated in a network re-architecture involving segmentation of multiple LANS and IP renumbering all resident devices.
- I also worked on replacement of some Puppet configurations with Ansible.
