  • Originally brought on because of desirable Confidential Domino skills as Confidential was switching from a custom Confidential DB2-based Sametime system to the publicly available Confidential Domino-based Sametime, as part of an upgrade from 6.0 to 8.0.
  • Designed, developed and implemented the key quarterly maintenance procedure on the Sametime community server before any such procedure was available from the Confidential Sametime Product team.
  • Designed and developed a set of tools to troubleshoot the key Confidential Domino databases that Confidential Sametime ran on.

Technical Support Engineer

  • Technical Support Engineer on a team that directly interfaced with customers using Vericepts products.
  • Automated a reporting process to one of Vericept’s most important customers.
  • Short project duration was due to being laid off on good terms (along with about 60 other employees) during financial crisis.

Technical Support Engineer - Team Lead

Responsibilities:

  • Team Lead of the Technical Support team that supported the Confidential Business Partner Systems, which consisted of several hundred Confidential Domino web applications running on 75 servers, allowing Confidential to interact with over 200,000 individuals associated with Confidential Business Partners.
  • Responsible for planning, testing and implementing large scale migrations of applications from standalone AIX servers to virtualized zLinux servers running on Confidential S/390 mainframes as part of Confidential ’s ECM initiative
  • Responsible for planning and managing all maintenance, monitoring, and upgrades for this system.
  • Additionally, held role of Lead Technical Support Engineer, personally responsible for solving the hardest problems. Two highlights of this experience were:
  • The design and implementation of an automated weekly maintenance routine based on unix shell scripts and ssh, that ran on 75 servers and eliminated the need for 16 hours of off-hours administrative support per week, plus reduced the total server downtime from 220 hours per week to 12 hours per week.
  • The design and implementation of an automated alerting system that replaced an existing alerting system that was generating roughly 250 page outs, 90% of them false, to the team. With the new alerting system, I was eventually able to reduce the number of false alerts by over 95% and then proactively reduce the number of real issues requiring administrative attention by approximately 85% down to an average of less than 3 per week.

  • In the first year of this engagement, acted as Systems Administrator for a team of developers working on the Content Information Acquisition application, which Confidential Software Planners used to assemble all the information required to build, manufacture, market, sell and bill for Confidential software. The application was built on Confidential Domino and served as the front end to feed information into a wide range of legacy applications.
  • For the next three years, worked as Developer on the team specializing in coding procedures to exchange information between Confidential Domino and Confidential DB2.
