Responsibilities:

  • Subject matter expert and consultant pertaining to all eligibility issues for the following Social Services programs; Medi - Cal, Calworks, General Assistance, and Calfresh.
  • Review and track service requests and trouble reports related to Medi-Cal, Calfresh, General Assistance, and Calworks case eligibility issues.
  • Coordinate with end users and/or managers to ensure that customer needs are met regarding all service requests for the above mentioned Human Services programs.
  • Maintain records of work completed and records of all resolutions.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support to Confidential personnel, over the telephone and in person, using Calwin, MEDS, Calheers, CA Service Desk Manager, and Service Now.
  • Although 80% of my current duties include analyzing and resolving all service requests regarding Calwin functioning issues, I am always open to helping my team mates with other IT issues that develop during a work day.
  • I generate standard reports from various database applications, and inform management of existing or potential production problems.
  • Assist and coordinate the completion of projects that are specific to area of assignment, such as the implementation of a new system design or system upgrade.
  • When assigned, I review upcoming changes to programs, regulations, or Calwin system changes, (All County Letters, Management Change Requests), I identify impact on system and/or County processes, and provide input on necessary revisions. I also assist with implementing changes.
  • Prepare technical reports, correspondence and other documents
  • Provide general administrative support that may include maintaining records
  • Serve on project teams providing technical assistance as needed.
  • I Interface with end users, (eligibility workers and their superiors), to identify problems/gaps with eligibility determination, current technology and/or business processes.
  • I gather information in order to gage where extra training may be needed; I then relate this information to my supervisor, who in turn reaches out to the eligibility supervisor and relays the necessary information.
  • Perform a variety of specialized duties in support of the County’s technology functions which may include, but are not limited to, applications, network, business processes and related technology areas.

  • Process applications and enter applicant’s information into a Calwin or Calheers depending on program requested by the client
  • Plan and organize large caseloads, ensuring that accuracy levels are maintained and that cases are processed within the specified timeframes set by county, federal, and state regulations.
  • Advise clients of deadlines, timeframes, and necessary actions to be taken.
  • Work with clients who are unable to take the necessary actions within the required timeframe.
  • Report cases to State investigators when fraud is suspected. Establishing and maintaining multiple case files through regular updating and review.
  • Prepare system generated documents necessary to initiate, continue, and/or modify public assistance.
  • Compute and authorize grant amounts based on financial and family status.
  • Compute Medi-Cal, CalFresh and Affordable Health Care budgets in order to calculate grants/ or eligibility.
  • Review and explain to clients the public assistance amounts and authorize payment of monthly benefits.
  • Keep up to date on changes in rules, laws, procedures, that affect processing timelines.
