WORK HISTORY:
Confidential, Sharon, PA
Data Management Specialist
Responsibilities:
- The person who originally set up the old method was no longer employed there.
- I was asked to come in, find out how the old way worked, clean up the ambiguous, non-standardized and redundant data, develop a new streamlined workflow and automate as much as possible.
- To do this, I was working on getting the data that wasn’t already accessible through GP’s SQL backend into an SQL database where I could add integrity checks and automation.
- I was exploring different options for the front end and looking to expand their use of SharePoint and social media.

Software Developer/Data Manager
Responsibilities:
- Majority of my work was in the installation and development of SQL databases, data integration mainly as a receiver from various other sources but also as a provider and data manipulation / calculations for presentation.
- I started with SQL Server 2008 which was then migrated to 2012.
- Other software that I worked extensively with was Visual Basic, SharePoint, FileMaker, Rediker and MySQL.
- When I arrived none of the systems communicated information automatically and no main database system existed.
- It was my task to evaluate, build and connect the data pieces in a way so that the information could be queried, manipulated, expanded upon, analyzed and reported from in various levels of complexity based on need.
- I accomplished this by working with vendors where needed (Rediker and Moodle) and coworkers who assisted with the networking pieces while I designed, tested and finalized automation processes.
- Automation was set up for both outgoing and incoming data to SQL Server using a number of techniques such as Microsoft Visual Studio (dtsx packages), Powershell, networked server scheduled tasks, SQL server stored procedures run by the job agent FTP and SSH.
- One of my final projects that I was dabbling in during any spare time was a data warehouse build out.
- I used mandated MS Access and VBA code for most of the front-end applications that allowed users to work with the data that resided in the SQL Server.
- I worked in SharePoint 2010 and 2012 developing sites, permissions and some workflows.
- I linked data and reports from the Student SQL Server to SharePoint to create a dashboard of information. In working with SharePoint, I occasionally used HTML, PHP and JavaScript.
- During the last 8 months, I worked heavily in FileMaker as well.
- With the exception of FileMaker, I worked with Active Directory information to set permissions levels for data interactions.
