Desktop Administration Content Advisor

Responsibilities:

  • SME in Group policy, Novell products and delivering Windows Updates via SCCM
  • As Desktop Administration Advisor, I mentor desktop engineers with regard to application of standard group policy settings for teh configuration and security of teh enterprise desktop.
  • Assisted in design, and managed implementation of enterprise standard desktop in multiple hospitals and physician offices in support of EPIC and internal initiatives for Enterprise support model.
  • Activities included onsite visits with teh deskside support staff, application support staff and relationship management to migrate their existing desktop support model to an SCCM supported model. Also included in assisting with re-packaging of applications, creating SCCM packages, advertisements, collections, task sequences, driver sets, etc to support deployment through SCCM. Additionally, I moved repeatable tasks such as printer deployments, shortcut management, power management settings, screen savers, etc into group policy and group policy preferences from a wide variety of other methods
  • Maintained 40,000 enterprise desktops with respect to group policy, application deployment, and Windows updates.
  • Activities included firming up process for utilizing SCCM to deploy Windows updates with a 90% or higher success rate for teh Confidential . Group policy management within multiple domains while developing an enterprise standard for common policies. Re-packaging applications using Altiris, Admin Studio and Java scripting for deployment in SCCM either from a vendor source or from Zenworks source application into .msi or AppV format.
  • Assisted in planning, implementation and maintenance of migrations from legacy WinNT, Win2K and Win2K3 domains into a single Windows 2008 domain.

Responsibilities:

  • Designed, implemented and maintained desktop and associated services merge for Teh Community Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
  • Activities included filling teh roll of technology project manager for teh hospital merge. Coordinating project between teh stakeholders of two very different hospitals, their individual technical teams and both in-house and contracted IT staff. dis project merged every piece of infrastructure including a Cisco forklift, Server upgrade and relocation to a consolidated server farm, all user, computer, application, file shares and group policy objects. Services merge included DNS, AD, NDS, WinNT, Win2K, DFS, application distribution, Intrusion detection, Content filtering, remote access and bandwidth expansion. Due to limited resources,, hands on work for me focused on giving customers at both facilities all teh applications and files they needed from either campus or at home through a single directory service, application delivery method and remote access method.

  • Prior to my hiring, teh SBA had no defined Technology support staff. I worked with teh SBA stakeholders, faculty and staff to develop positions needed, hire teh right staff for those positions and subsequently manage 3 direct reports and 25 indirect reports. Customer support went from a 6 month backlog of tickets to 99.999% uptime.

  • I leveraged Novell and Zenworks to provide a standard image and application deployment for faculty, staff and three computer labs. I added additional staff and began training students to manage lab support in a self-sustaining way. dis added to teh School’s mission of developing young minds to build bright futures. Teh additional lab was an exact replica of a Wall Street portfolio center. Students were able to utilize teh same software stock analysts use. dis created a unique security need as teh software had to be used within teh SEC guidelines. I exceeded teh Center’s requirements for security, and it now hosts one of teh largest portfolio centers in an academic setting.
