Technical Team Lead

Confidential

Responsibilities:

  • I started working at IIa managing a project to upgrade Captiva InputAccel for a Trademarks system.
  • Despite lacking some key source code, the project had a short deadline which was completed on time and within budget.
  • My duties include helping the team members prioritize work, arrange coverage of routine tasks if there is a priority situation, assist team members with assessments of requests for additional functionality or fixes, reviewing the team monthly activities and reporting significant accomplishments to the Confidential Task Order Manager and providing additional communication or clarity with Confidential Team Leads or other personnel when needed.
  • I also led additional efforts including organizing ad - hoc priority requests and compiling the results in a format suitable for the Confidential customers, such as requests for the entire team to conduct ad-hoc system testing and presenting the results in a meaningful way, quickly.
  • Another special project I led was system review and knowledge capture process where a Kanban was used to identify previously undocumented system tasks, which were then documented and validated by different team members.
  • I expanded my role to also be the technical lead for the Trademarks Operations and Maintenance product line, adding a team of nine developers overseeing 36 Confidential Systems.

Confidential

Systems Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • I started off at SalientCRGT supporting the Confidential ’s Reference Document Management Services (RDMS) Operations and Maintenance task as a Software Architect.
  • After a few months, I began leading the task through a couple of successful releases, delivering additional functionality, stability and fixes.
  • At that time, RDMS was a Documentum 6.5 SP3 solution integrated with oXygen 12 and Mark Logic 4.2 and was used as the Official repository for the Patent and Trademark manuals, documenting the Patent and Trademark rules and regulations.
  • Once the product was stabilized and internal processes and procedures were established,
  • I moved over to lead the Supplemental Complex Repository for Examiners (SCORE) upgrade task which had fallen behind schedule and involved upgrading the SCORE application from Documentum 6.0 SP1 to Documentum 6.7 SP2, and migrating from AIX and Websphere Application Server to Linux and JBoss Application Server. After the successful SCORE upgrade, I became the Task Order Manager for the Examiner Tools 1 task, which included four Patent Examination Automated Information Systems (AIS’s) including SCORE, PSIPS (Publication Site for Issued and Published Sequences), PatentIn, Checker. When that task was successfully completed, I moved to providing level 3 Operations and Maintenance Support for several systems including the bulk of the Confidential ’s legacy patent processing systems plus other specialized systems such as internal reference libraries and the Emergency Notification System.
  • Fees from patent applications are the largest source of income for the Confidential, thus supporting the patent application processing systems is of the highest priority for them.
  • Lastly, a less tangible but significant aspect of my work for SalientCRGT has been to make problems and potential problems outside of my immediate tasks, go away.
  • This has often been accomplished by working with management to identify issues or potential issues and then assisting other staff to resolve the issue.
