Senior Systems Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager - The configuration I built was two Hyper-V based physical servers - HP ProLiant DL380gen8 in Hyper-V Cluster managed by SCVMM, connected to HP P2000G3 shared storage. I have created VM templates for each server role to allow quick one click server deployment. During deployment server takes IP from a pool and then joins the Active Directory domain automatically. Hardware of the Virtual machines was dynamic. Server groups were organized in clouds and assigned to different administrators depending on the projects. Each Virtual machine was highly available. I’ve done a lot of PowerShell Scripting combined with Orchestrator run-books to automate deployment. Created large number of service template for deployment of custom HP home grown Linux servers.
  • System Center 2012 Operations Manager - Using SCOM for monitoring different server groups by utilizing different Management Packs – SharePoint, BizTalk, NLB, Windows Server 2012, Team Foundation Server. Reports have been produced by different Power View data models created by pulling out data from SQL database. Those models contained performance information about the environment, statistic of error events, PowerShell Scripting. I have built Business Intelligence site under SharePoint where a link to PowerPivot gallery has been created some of the reports were uploaded and automatically synchronized with the information in the database of SCOM. I have configured custom notifications for very important events. I’ve done tuning of the Management packs by creating different rules, sometimes disabling rules.
  • System Center 2012 Service Manager – Service Manager Server was built for the purposes of incident tracking and inventory tracking, knowledge was also developed for the purposes of our project. I have completed full integration between Service Manager, Orchestrator, Operations Manager, and Active Directory. Every incident in SCOM was automatically opened as incident in Service Manager. I have designed custom workflows, SLAs, SLO, configured notifications, email templates.
  • System Center 2012 Orchestrator – I have two Orchestrator servers and developed large number of run-books for the purposes of my environment in order to achieve full automation of administration tasks . Installation of custom Integration Packs, testing the functionality and integrity of each activity in the integration packs. Using Opalis Orchestrator SDK to create custom integration packs for internal HP project. Experience in debugging run books.
  • Project Server 2013 – I have created one Project Server 2013 on a virtual machine. The web application was monitored by Operations Manager 2012 SharePoint Management Pack. I installed and configured the Project server and was responsible for complex troubleshooting of Project 2013 server/client, patching, configuring, Project Reports, resource management, creating projects, permissions management, Active Directory synchronization.
  • System Center 2012 Data Protection Manager – Creating different protection groups and customizing backups of the different components of the environment and full backup for bare metal server recovery. Full maintenance of the backup server.
  • Distributed SharePoint 2013 Farm four servers – I have installed, configured, troubleshoot geographically distributed farm. Each Server timer service, web applications were monitored by Operations Manager Management pack. I was responsible for complex troubleshooting, creating SharePoint sites, permission management, patching, migration of content databases, Integration with TFS and Project 2013, Business Intelligence Solutions, Configuring supporting PowerPivot site, deploying custom third party solutions into SharePoint, creating Workflows using SharePoint Designer, creating External Lists, configuring all site features, Performance Point Dashboards, KPIs.
  • Team Foundation Server 2012 + SharePoint 2013 Integration – TFS server was monitored by Operations Manager Management pack. My job was to install one new TFS 2012 environment and also complete a full update of a TFS 2008 environment to 2012 and integrate it with SharePoint 2013. Also permissions management, troubleshooting of integration with Project Server 2013, Configuring TFS reports using SQL 2012 Report Server and Analysis Server. I have also created one Build Manager server, Build Agent servers and connecting them to the Team Foundation Server, patch management, my last project is planning of migration to Team Foundation Server 2013. Developers took care to check in their code and Project managers created the requirements and worked on the TFS. My job was only administration of the application not management of Projects.
  • SQL database server 2012 – four database servers. Each database server is being monitored by System Center Operations Manager and alarm is being sent to administrators group each time something goes down. I was responsible for importing data to the SQL server and server security. SQL debugging using SQL Profiler, permissions configuration, enabling disabling different jobs in SQL agent. Importing data from custom data sources like Excel, database backups and migrations. I’ve done a lot of SQL queries for the purposes of our projects.
  • BizTalk Server 2013 - Multi Server environment - I have created two BizTalk farms for the purposes of our data processing projects. Each environment had total of nine servers – two receive servers, two send servers, two process servers, one database server, one SQL services server. I had to install, configure, and manage/monitor this farm. BizTalk environment was monitored by Operations Manager using BizTalk Management pack. Each receive location, host server were monitored and alarm has been sent by email each time something goes down. In addition incident is being opened in Server Manager Server. Configuration included load balancing between two Receive servers using NLB, Enterprise SSO, BAM Tools/Alerts, BAM Portal, BizTalk Runtime, BizTalk adapters installation, ESB Portal configuration was a challenging task, UDDI configuration. Importing BizTalk Applications, troubleshooting/monitoring host instances. Using BizTalk Administration Console and events for various configuration troubleshooting tasks.
