Oracle Database Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Worked as a team member for 24x7 support with on call rotation in all prod, QA and dev environments.
  • Successfully upgraded Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4) to Oracle 11g (11.1.0.6) and Oracle 11g (11.1.0.6) to Oracle 11g (11.2.0.3) on Red hat Linux 6, IBM-AIX.

  • Developed SQL*PLUS & PL/SQL scripts for extraction, Transporting & Transforming (ETL) data from Production databases to Data Warehouse Databases.
  • SQL tuning and Database performance tuning has been done based on reports generated by SQL Trace, TKPROF, STATSPACK, Explain Plan, AWR, ADDM and monitor the database performance on daily basis.
  • I was a member of a team that configured Golden Gate in this environment for bi-directional replication (Two way confign).
  • We configured Golden Gate for the following reasons: to make sure static extractions of data records from one database are loaded to another database, to ensure continuous extraction and replication of transactional DML changes to keep source and target databases are consistent and also to ensure data is extracted from a database and replicated to a file outside database. As an oracle DBA working on Golden Gate, Sometimes there was an incomplete record in a trail of regular records, which meant the record in the trail was probably missing out the header where it was supposed to start and instead started in the middle of the record. I did the “info all” and realized there was an abend. So what I do is that I first of all stop the extract Pump, then create a new trail sequence (keeping the old one intact to avoid confusion), changed the extract checkpoint and backed up the checkpoint file, altered the replicat to this new trail sequence and finally started the extract pump and trail.
