Senior Application Engineer

  • Developed solutions using Digital Fuel’s J2EE framework to manage SLOs (Service Level Objectives), SLAs (Service Level Agreements), Financial Management, and Catalog. Raw data was mined from a variety of source, depending on what a particular customer had available and stored in an Oracle database.
  • Extracted raw data from a variety of databases including Oracle, MS SQL, as well as parsing log files, and creating GUI interfaces (Web Forms) for manual data input; all of which was and stored an Oracle database.
  • Apply several levels of business logic to the raw data using the Digital Fuel framework to determine levels of compliance, breaches, bonuses and or penalties per the specifications on the applicable contract. Often when a client’s needs exceeded the capabilities of the built in tools, it was necessary to either modify and extend the application or implement the logic at the database level using views, snapshots, or stored procedures.
  • Complex reports were then built on top of the resulting data that allowed high level results to be displayed in a java applet. The user could then drill down through the data to greater levels of detail depending on their specific rolls and privileges.
  • Create and manage Development, Q/A, and Productions environments, including the installation and configuration of Oracle 9i, 10g, and 11g databases; a variety of application servers such as Websphere, Weblogic, and Tomcat. These were deployed on a variety of operating systems such as Solaris, Linux, Windows, and VMware instances.
  • Roughly 25% of the work was onsite, working directly with the customers IT staff and business users. The reminder was done remotely using a VPN or on a local development server.
