Oracle Retail Techno-functional Consultant

Responsibilities:

  • Have Formulated the overall Conversion approach for Retail Application after regular meetings/discussions with the client, functional, and infrastructure team
  • I was leading Retail Conversion module in PLCB Upgrade project (Conversion of PLCB data from retail version 12.0.6 to 13.2.4). This part of the project was the most critical. In total, we successfully completed seven mock runs of Retail Conversion in non-production environments. The production conversion run was successful with no major issue. This conversion activity was critical component of PLCB Upgrade project, as Oracle had no standard approach for converting Retail Version 12 to Retail Version 13.
  • As a Conversion Lead, I was leading consultant across the teams. The conversion team had 5 members. Two of them were DBAs. One resource working from offshore and one resource from onsite. I supervised two DBAs for successful conversion run. I was also guiding/mentoring personnel from client who were involved in Conversion.
  • I have also developed Generic Conversion Approach/Module to use for Retail Conversion. This program can be run in parallel threads based on hardware resources. This module was core part of Retail Full and Delta Conversion. With this module, we were able to convert 396 tables in less than two hours.
  • Because of Database Size (more than 1.5 TB), Retail Conversion was initially taking more than two weeks to complete. But with continuous improvement, we were able to complete Full conversion in less than three days and delta conversion in less than 12 hours. This was well acknowledged by Client.
  • I was responsible for converting 1.5 terabytes of data, organized into 1000 different tables, into the new system. In early planning sessions, this was identified as one of the highest-risk activities of the project. Could it even be done? Oracle certainly wouldn't give us any help.
  • I was able to manage the project by using both onsite and offshore resources, and coordinating directly with several different functional teams. By suggesting agile conversion architecture, I was able to accommodate changes throughout the process, including the final go-live weekend.
