I have 24+ years of experience involving all phases of the project. My expertise can be utilized right from the early phases starting from project scoping, requirements definition, business process layout, gap analysis, etc for a global SAP implementation. I have performed these tasks for SAP implementation of multi-business units (more than one SAP module at one time). As one of the well known SAP technical expert, my experience with RICEF objects should be the key focus for my prospects. Initially I analyze all the RICEF objects and then prepare a development plan that highlights the list of steps involved and skills needed for each RICEF object to be completed. Next I prepare the resource plan once I have identified effort required to complete each RICEF topic and project timeline is known. On most projects I have been brought in very early to choose the system integrator (or implementation partner) where I pick the resources for the customer.
If given the choice, I prefer selecting the functional and technical team leads for each SAP functional area. I work with the team leads to setup implementation team and define stepwise plan to meet the deadlines.

Managing System Configuration & Business Process Engineering (SAP Functional)

I work with SAP functional team leads to define the proof of concept plan to realize the business requirements in the Sandbox system. Define the RICEF objects once the business process requirements and gaps in the standard are identified. Prepare functional specifications for each RICEF object by one-on-one meetings with the business experts or by conducting workshops. Oversee preparation of plan to configure the development system and define unit tests. Track the progress of system setup followed by migration of all the customizing objects into the QA environment. Manage user acceptance testing and ensure all issues from UAT are resolved prior to moving all objects into production.

Plan, Manage & Delivery of RICEF Objects (SAP Technical)

RICEF objects are critical piece of any SAP project implementation. As mentioned above, worked with the customer right from preliminary phases of the project to prepare development and resource plan for RICEF objects. Based on my extensive experience in managing SAP projects, customers have used my expertise with RICEF as outlined below:

Reports : Identify all standard delivered reports that need to be enhancements and also define new custom reports the customer may need to fulfill the business process requirements.
Interfaces : All SAP customers use third party software(s) and even have multiple systems within its current business landscape that need to interact with SAP system. I review the data structure and decide whether ALE, IDOCS, XI (now Process Integration), etc can be used to build the interfaces with existing systems.
Conversion : Review the data in the legacy system that needs to be converted into the SAP and determine which tools may suit the best for a successful data conversion. In most cases I have recommended LSMW, Transfer Workbench, BDC or custom programs depending on the complexity of the legacy data and the business object layout in the target SAP system.
Enhancements : SAP usually delivers approx 80% of functionality and features that may be needed to run your business enterprise. All changes to user interface, system standard business process enhancements (using user exits/ BADIs) and other SAP objects are identified as enhancements. I have worked with the customer to prioritize the enhancements depending on whether these are pre-requisites for RICEF objects on conversion and forms to be completed successfully.
Forms : Analyze all the forms in the legacy system and make decision of which SAP report tools should be utilized for the project. Most common reporting tools are SAPScript, Smart Forms and MS Office Integration.
Deliver SAP Project in Time
On a regular basis I work with the SAP functional and technical team leads to track the progress of each task. Identify any issues with system or business process and work with the teams toward a resolution. Present the project status in each SAP functional area in a weekly/bi-weekly meeting with the project stakeholders. Utilize my vast network within SAP America and SAP AG to escalate any major issues in the SAP system and to submit development requests for gaps or features that should be delivered in the standard.
