Responsibilities:

  • Worked with Clients on modernizing older COBOL and C Programs using Mirco Focus products. I was assigned to updating C and COBOL Programs and testing them on a Linux system.

SAP and Mainframe Developer

  • Worked on a large development project that implemented a SAP R/3 4.7 system that contained all of IBM fixed assets. This project was developed over a 14 year span. During the project there were many releases. Each release would bring additional assets from countries that were still on IBM MAINFRAME legacy systems.
  • My main role in this project was to develop ABAP and MAINFRAME programs (PL1) and functions to support conversion of assets, creating and maintaining cost centers, processing inbound files from external systems, and creating outbound files to feed external MAINFRAME systems.
  • Lead the Technical team in designing and coding the conversion of assets from several different MAINFRAME legacy systems. Many countries were converted with 5 major releases for a total exceeding four million assets. Developed interfaces from SAP to external systems to allow enrichment of assets data.Was part of a team that in which I contributed detail tasks to develop a comprehensive cutover plan for the new SAP system plus the next several releases. Received an IBM Division award for a successful installation of the first release. Trained fellow team members in parallel processing and AIX operating system cmds. Acknowledged as the “The GO to Person” by management when the project was faced with technical challenges during the initial startup process.
