PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Confidential

Senior Consultant

Responsibilities:

  • As part of PROPLE R3, Confidential has decided to implement the SAP CRM and corresponding BW solution feeding data to GDW/GP.
  • I worked on my aspects of CRM systems like resource management, contact information, Quote Solution and Material Pricing.
  • Also worked on centering the business partner master for the usage for all the solutions across the board for CRM.
  • Worked on many areas of Quote Solution to apply complex logic in the end routine of the DSO - material pricing, different pricing condition, deletion and SCR changes, REF PH and PC configuration, adjusting product structure based on the item type etc.
  • Also worked on building two most useful function modules for multiple modules in BW for configuration material and items, as well as acquired company flag. These FMs are built with generic input to make sure they can be used by different solutions without much effort.
  • Material Pricing is one complex solution where depending up on the date intervals from multiple tables, detail date intervals are to be generated to make sure all the measures can be populated on the same line.
  • During go-live of the project, real time pending requirements were to fetch information from source every 15 minutes. This was scheduled since at that time only direct quotes were involved and volume was within the SLA of 15 minutes. After few months of go-live, there was a requirement raised to incorporated indirect quote along with direct in the same data set to be fetched every 15 minutes.
  • Indirect quotes were added to the existing extractor logic, but during EST business hours, and month/quarter end volume started increasing and at few instances, the run time started going beyond 45 minutes. This lead us to think about thinking of a new approach.
  • There were many issues that surfaced after go-live in production. It was hard to fix all the issue at the same time. With SLA being breached and with the existing issue, there was a need to look for another approach to tackle all the issues at the same time.
  • I suggested the real time approach, since the volume of pending quotes at any given time were next to constant of about 3000. Earlier approach was to fetch everything and drop unnecessary quotes from BW DSO after every 15 minutes load. I changed the approach and started fetching information real time from CRM only for the required number of pending quotes.
  • Earlier average time spent on CRM system every 15 minutes was approximately, 7 minutes. After the real time approach, the average time spent on CRM every 15 minutes is 3 minutes. Business is happy since now report looks accurate.
  • At Confidential, for material pricing they use external tool called Vendavo. Interface flow was, data was seeded in ECC which then was pushed to Vendavo. Vendavo is a pricing engine, which generates the pricing model depending on the algorithm. Once the pricing model data is generated, it pushes back the data to ECC in 14 different tables - A906, A911, A912 etc.
  • The ask was to create an extractor for BW to generate price book with two main measure - list price & field cost price. With the help of list price, there were many other measures needed to be calculated - maintenance, warranty, warranty upgrade & part retention costs.
  • Maintenance, Warranty, Warranty Upgrade & Part Retention costs were stored as % of list price in the table KONP. The only issue was the validity dates. All of the 14 tables had their own validity dates and it was hard to determine the continuous interval using all the 14 tables.
  • Business agreed to use one table for all of these meausures - ie. A913 for maintenance, A665 for Warranty etc.
  • After go-live, they asked for the accurate price and they asked to in corporate all the tables. We started incorporating the tables and performance of the extractor started to deteriorate.
  • I worked with basis to pin point the exact point in the code which needed to be tuned. After the fix, the extractor started to take 5 minutes from 6 hours to load about 350k records from ECC to BW.
  • Once performance tuning was taken care of, we started incorporating more tables for all the measures.
  • Extractor is successfully working in production without any issues.
  • A New revenue flow has been created for PROPEL R3. This was replicated from the production as starting point and then updated/modified as per the new requirements from PROPLE R3.
  • A new block of code is added for the software unbundling and covered product to suffice the requirement for PROPEL R3.
  • Also a new cost flow is developed using the new R3 requirements.
  • Supported the testing through all the testing phases of cycle 1, 2, 3 and Biz Sim.
  • As a part of migration project humongous tables of deferred revenue were to migrate to HANA database in ECC. These tables are crucial for business and it was very much important to make sure the table after migration holds the same data as of old table.
  • Manual comparison of these tables were not possible due to the volume of the table.
  • The approach was suggested to migrate the old ECC tables into HANA sidecar on BW and later through methods the data is compared in BW on HANA.
  • After the first migration test, it was very much evident that only comparison was not enough and migration team needed the data before and after to see why there is a discrepancy.
  • To give them this flexibility HAP (HANA Analysis Process) was designed on the method and the data was pushed to BW from HANA through the datasource based on the HAP.
  • BEx (Business Explorer) queries were also created on the ADSO holding data discrepancy for easy access to the data for migration team.

Confidential, Southborough, MA

Principal SAP BW/BI Techno-Functional Consultant

Responsibilities:

  • Deferred Revenue Reporting is one of the key business report in Confidential organization.
  • DRR gives Confidential an insight to the revenue which Confidential is going to earn in the upcoming quarters as a part of their contracting services to end users for their sold products - Hardware, Services etc.
  • Since DRR is mix of multiple business areas - Sales (Bookings) & Finance (Revenue), it was hard to co-relate both the data set into one report till date.
  • My role was to have DRR as a reality and it has been executed quite well and successful.
  • Extensively worked with business to understand the requirement and pain points so far in existing reports.
  • Generated the data architecture to for DRR and developed the same with the most efficient and accurate ABAP programming.
  • Also generated the deletion logic into SAP BW using complex ABAP to overcome the shortcoming functionality of SAP ECC.
  • Data has been merged and massaged into SAP BW and sent to GreenPlum ( Confidential Propritory Datawarehouse) and reported in Tabluea.
  • Data is prepared to the most possible extent to minimize the support effort in GreenPlum and Tableau.
  • Also created a summary report in BOBJ-Webi for the aggregated view of the data to help end user facilitate in their quarter end process.
  • Open PO report has been in Confidential since its first go-live, but since then it has never satisfied the business requirement. Since the open PO involves the business key dimensions from PO creation to delivery (goods receipt), different data grain was always a challenge in BW.
  • To mitigate this gaps, I first created an ABAP ALV grid report in ECC for the business to test to make sure that logic given by business would work for them.
  • Initial idea was to move this to production as the final output, but then later business came back asking for the slice and dice functionality, which demands for BW / BOBJ.
  • Depending upon the type of orders - Direct, Single account assignment and Multiple account assignments, all POs are first segregated and then treated depending upon the logic given by business.
  • The major breakthrough in this solution was to have a custom extractor on EKBE, since the after ever goods receipt and/or invoice the report should be updated with the new total good receipt quantity and/or invoice quantity and amount.
  • I worked with the process team to learn more about how the data gets into EKBE and determine that once data entered into EKBE, it can never be changed. It can be reversed to cancel the goods receipt, but existing material document can never be updated.
  • Once we brought EKBE into BW, another challenge was to change the existing data in BW and for that we prepared the delta in such a way that every time a GR or Invoice is posted, it creates delta for PO item and while looking up on EKEB, quantity and amounts would be updated.
  • As a part of R3 PROPEL, I worked on multiple solutions like - Resource, Pricing Book, Contacts, Customers and Quotes.
  • The main responsibility is to read through the functional document prepared by the business and design a data model to suffice the same.
  • Develop the data model in development environment and also prepare the Technical Document for future .
  • Also prepare the Unit Test document and support and defect during the FAT.
  • Currently all the solutions are in FAT and being tested.

  • There are many BEx functions, which make BEx query non-compatible with BOBJ. Worked on those queries to find out the 50/50 solution, where most can be delivery from BEX queries and rest can be computed in BOBJ.
  • Executive Dashboard is designed in Confidential and comprises of 5 important KPIs identified by the business. Because these KPIs span across multiple functions and grain is differently stored in different InfoCubes, we brought up a concept of KPI cube.
  • KPI Cube is a single cube where all the required KPIs are stored at required grain for dashboard. This may also contain the required data with respect to time horizon.
  • To achieve the KPI Cube, we used the existing queries from different funtions and used them into APD. Using different APD processes, we achieved the required gain and stored the information into single DSO and then into KPI Cube.
  • Also suggested label based menu for better visibility of selection for profit center hierarchy selection.
  • Mentioned executive dashboard was built through QaaWS and currently being re-designed in BICS.
  • After the acceptance of Executive Dashboard, business came up with the idea of creating a dashboard by different functional managers.
  • As I am the functional owner for supply chain, I am involved in design of supply chain dashboard. This dashboard is designed in BICS and this dashboard shows many strong points of using BICS over QaaWS / Webi-Live office connection.
