Independent Co Architect
Responsibilities:
- Project duties as an independent CO Architect for this client consisted of reviewing existing system configuration and enhancements to update an existing blueprint for all new SAP S/4 version 1709 system implementations.
- Determined business process differences from the medical and surgical equipment division that was already live on SAP and prepared workshop materials to discuss changes to configuration and enhancements that would be required to move forward.
- The Coronavirus caused this client to decide to shut down all new SAP work until the year 2021 and release all existing consultants.
Confidential, New Bremen, OH
SAP CO Team Lead Consultant
Responsibilities:
- Project duties as an independent SAP CO Team Lead Consultant for this client consist of implementing the SAP ECC version 6.0 (including SAP VMS) and SAP DBM version 8.1 in repetitive, discrete, make - to-order (MTO), engineer-to-order (ETO) and Kanban manufacturing environments.
- The product costing (CO-PC), cost center accounting (CO-CCA), internal order accounting (CO-IO) and profitability analysis (CO-PA) CO sub-modules are being configured, tested and implemented in all U.S. manufacturing plants, warehouses and sales branches.
- Existing costing configuration was examined and often changed and documented to reflect the client’s true requirements. Wrote the functional specs for and managed a significant number of complex ABAP and BI development efforts for the Cost Manager, Controller and CFO of this company.
- Some of these tools provided this client with the ability to budget spending and cost products more accurately, eliminating their need for large reserves in case of gross inaccuracies.
- Other development work provided clearer visibility to WIP and inventory breakdown costs by location, costing tools for engineers, and MM, PP, SD and CO master data verification tools for the client’s master data team.
- These duties are being performed after replacing two CO consultants who had been dismissed from this client.
Confidential, Houston, TX
Senior SAP Co Consultant
Responsibilities:
- Project duties as an independent Senior SAP CO Consultant for this client consisted of creating system enhancements, writing complex ABAP report specs, fixing hundreds of system issues and configuring new business processes such as subcontracting within their
- SAP version ECC 6.0 system. Existing costing configuration was examined and often changed and documented to reflect the client’s true requirements. Queries were written to assist this client in a massive effort to clean up master data, which had been causing incorrect cost calculations in dozens of plants.
- Significant support and training were provided to the cost accountants and plant controllers around the globe, particularly during the annual planning cycle and product cost standard development. Sales order costing for make-to-order (MTO) products was analyzed at this client’s request and a standard solution was provided so that the plants could update their sales orders and production order estimates correctly and efficiently.
- New FI substitution rules were written so that postings were made to the desired profit centers and correct P&L and Balance Sheet reporting could be done by business entity. New Controlling and Project Systems batch jobs were also created for this client. Existing batch jobs were documented, analyzed and sometimes updated. Several jobs were rescheduled to prevent collisions with others and some were deleted as they were unnecessary.
- Took over and completed the CO portion of an internal project to implement billable and non-billable SAP plant maintenance service orders. Client had requested a controlled method with which to schedule and service (or remanufacture) thousands of customer-owned and FMC-owned gas and oil valve assemblies sent back to the Fluid Control company code.
- Each service order processes one assembly each, except for an additional order type that was created to account for ad hoc miscellaneous costs. Results analysis keys were configured for both billable and non-billable scenarios. The non-billable scenarios configured were for warranty repairs, goodwill and rental unit repairs, which all settled to expense. RA keys configured use Completed Contract method.
- Lead global annual cost roll processes. Much knowledge transfer was provided to this client as they had not received any training at all prior to their go-live. The ability to continuously conduct workshops remotely via WebEx in Asian, European and North American time zones were crucial to this project.

Senior SAP CO Consultant
Responsibilities:
- Project duties as an independent Senior SAP CO Consultant for this SAP version ECC 6.0 client consisted of assisting their implementation partner (Deloitte Consulting) in identifying and fixing product costing errors that were appearing in this client’s costing log.
- After reviewing the costing message configuration, it was clear that it was not set up correctly and many error messages that should have appeared were not (and vice - versa). This configuration resulted in large volumes of missing
- SAP master data and product standard costs that were undetected. After the message configuration was corrected, a large multi-facility team was assembled and all missing pieces of master data were created.
- Costing queries were then built and calculated SAP costs were then compared to legacy system costs by cost category. Differences between systems were then investigated and fixed.

SAP CO Team Lead ConsultantResponsibilities:
- Project duties as an independent SAP CO Team Lead Consultant for this referenceable client consisted of implementing the SAP version 4.7 in repetitive, discrete, make-to-order (MTO) and Kanban manufacturing environments.
- The product costing (CO-PC), cost center accounting (CO-CCA), internal order accounting (CO-IO) and profit center accounting (CO-PCA) CO sub-modules were correctly configured, tested and implemented.
- This functionality was deployed at a very large manufacturing plant, a warehouse with light manufacturing and ten sales distribution centers. The plant and warehouse had very complex manufacturing processes and a volume of approximately 300,000 production orders per month.
- Some of this client’s legacy ERP system hardware was rapidly deteriorating and replacement parts were becoming unavailable. Adding to the urgency of this implementation, the existing 25 year-old homegrown costing programs barely functioned and much of the bills of material, routings and purchasing master data were grossly incorrect. As a result, true product standard costs were unknown by this client. The legacy costing program logic was successfully analyzed and fixed in a joint effort between Finance and IT.
- Legacy system costing master data was temporarily updated, corrected and rolled so that solid legacy costs could be tied to in the subsequent SAP implementation. Sales pricing was re-established in SAP after true costs were known and some unprofitable products were discontinued. This work was performed in an SAP environment with many company codes and hundreds of manufacturing and sales plants but no corporate rollout template.
- Much care was taken so as to prevent any negative impact to existing business units already functioning with SAP. This client had unsuccessfully attempted to implement SAP six times in eight years at this facility prior to this project.
- Production support is now being provided to this client’s users remotely in CO-PC and CO-PA. After this company code was brought live on version 4.70, all company codes were upgraded to SAP version ECC 6.0 with the most current SAP HotPacks installed. No issues within CO were observed.
