Software Architect / UI Developer

Responsibilities:

  • Working in a team of 3 developers I am responsible for the UX design of all internal web applications. My duties include logo, layout and design of the UI as well as working with the team to ensure all necessary data and interactions are captured.
  • After approval I build the UX using a combination of AngularJS and JQuery. When combined with an API backend / JSON data we are able to bring an exciting web application experience to our internal clients. Using a mix of AngularJS, Jquery and JSON allows me to bring all the functionality needed in a web application with a minimal dependency on programming languages such as C#, PHP or ColdFusion.
  • Working within a team of 3 developers I am responsible for the architecture of each internal application. I meet with the client to discuss their current needs and concerns. With their help, a workflow is established.
  • I then meet with my team and backend developers to discuss the database and webAPI needs to meet the customer’s requirements.
  • A mockup and Architectural document is developed based upon a Requirements document.
  • UI elements (design, logo, workflow diagrams) are developed.
  • Using Agile methodology, the application is developed with incremental releases to test functionality and ensure the application is aligned with the customer needs.
  • Through the development process, these are the primary tools used:
  • Photoshop for graphics development. Logos/layout and design of application theme.
  • Figma for UI design and Prototyping
  • BalsamiQ for workflow, mockup and architectural diagram
  • Bootstrap for modern UI elements/ common asthetics
  • Jquery for dom manipulation and UI interactivity.
  • AngularJS for front-end web application framework, data binding and application.
  • Some application development with Angular (previously Angular2)

  • After some testing, a full web application was green lit.
  • This application allows excess plasma and material to be pooled together, labels to be generated and shipping manifests to be created.
  • As previously discarded samples are gathered into pools in the lab, the application tracks all aspects (users, time, # of samples an locations) so that auditing needs can be met.

Confidential, San Antonio, Texas

Sr. Internet Applications Developer.

Responsibilities:

  • Developed the MEWACS Online 4.0 application which brought a new level of interactivity and ease of use to the MEWACS application. Using AJAX methodologies we were able to dig deeper into the data allowing users to search for 4th level FCCs while reducing the amount of load time the user would have to endure. The menus were built dynamically using XMLHTTPRequest calls so only the data that was needed for the user was retrieved from the server.
  • Introduced the MyMEPRS aspect of the Confidential .info portal. This is the Social Network portion of the portal which allows users to interact and network with one another giving the members a sense of community and an area in which to interact and discuss trends ad issues within Confidential .
  • Building on MyMEPRS we introduced a forum which was built from the ground up to specifically address the Confidential community needs and to ensure compatibility with the existing portal framework. This gave our users a painless transition into membership and all the new features of the Confidential website.
  • Features were added which allowed MyMEPRS members to save frequently used queries which could then be retrieved and shared with others.
  • A calendar feature was added which allows visitors to the portal to see what events and classes are coming soon.
  • The Website was overhauled to give it a modern "Web2.0" look in design.
  • The convention booth was also redesigned to match with our website and maintain consistency in aesthetics.
  • The Confidential project is housed on TMA servers. Software limitations on the server have posed several limitations that we have overcome in an effort to bring the client the best possible solutions to project tasks.
  • The website was developed using Cold Fusion 5.0, XHTML, CSS 2, JavaScript, DHTML and Macromedia Flash + Action Script and the latest in AJAX techniques.
  • Currently working on migrating the existing site onto a new Windows 2003 server system which will be housed onsite at SRA. This will give us even greater flexibility in development and allow us to push the boundaries of the Confidential .info portal even further.
  • The Website design as well as additional graphics and illustrations were developed using Adobe Photoshop CS, Adobe Illustrator CS and Adobe InDesign.
  • Development of the Confidential information portal
  • Took the projects two existing websites and consolidated them into one portal solution.
  • Created the Design and graphics for the portal as well as recoded major portions of the site for integration. Conduct product demonstrations for customer and serve as lead web applications subject matter expert.
  • Development of tools in the staff section. These tools are used by the Confidential team to maintain content on the site.

Layout and design of the Confidential newsletter. Design of all graphics used in the Confidential booth, an 8x10 display booth used for marketing the Confidential project at conventions.
  • Developed a web-based evaluation tool for the 2004 Tri-Service Confidential Conference. Working with the Data Quality team. Using the application, administrators can dynamically build surveys of varying question types and length and generate reports on the fly as data is collected. This takes the programming out of the equation allowing the data quality team to get creative in building their surveys. This also greatly increases the development and deployment time of future surveys.
  • Development of other applications as needed to help improve productivity.
  • Serving as a team leader and mentor for a junior programmer who was brought aboard to help us expand the Confidential project.
  • Joined the team to help get the development website up and running.

Confidential, San Antonio, Texas

Chief Internet programmer

Responsibilities:

  • User based portal site. Once registered, members could log on to customize how news content was delivered. User information was used to tailor the online experience throughout the Confidential network of affiliates. Worked with Accuweather and Weather.com to provide personalized weather pages for members. Provided Real Video Confidential from our TV broadcast for online viewing. Also live webcams from various Texas festivities.
  • A Statewide database driven event calendar. The entire site was designed to be run by 1 events researcher. Once entered events were displayed according to their dates with "spotlight events" being displayed accordingly. Users were also given search tools to help locate events based upon date, location or interest.
  • I designed automation tools that allowed them to enter their news stories online. They could upload graphics, links, cut lines and more. They would then choose a template and the story would be converted to HTML, formatted, and databased into the site in the appropriate categories. This freed the editors from having to learn HTML and gave them more time to focus on their story. Also created an online comments system that allowed selected stories to be commented on. It provided content filters and administration functions to allow discussion content to be monitored for appropriateness.
  • Confidential could be searched for by content, date, subject and reporter. Because the MP3 was new to some of our affiliates, I also designed an MP3 player using Mediachance's "MultiMedia-Builder" software to allow our affiliates to play the audio files available on our site. This software was distributed during our marketing phase and was a huge attention getter.
