I was part of a large team of analysts and developers to undertake this massive construction of Petronas’ Project Management system. We used MS EPM 2010 with Sharepoint 2010 as the main platform. I set-up Timer Jobs as a rudimentary ETL of sorts to deposit data from EPM database to a reporting database, which I then used to create reporting dashboards for Project Managers to monitor their projects. “Smart Parts” were heavily utilized throughout this system to rapidly develop C# code stored within Sharepoint Designer user control files instead of going the Visual Web Parts route which required a lot of interaction with the data-sensitive server.
