Responsibilities:

  • As a part of the business strategy, our client had outsourced some of the Commercial Line applications to Cognizant for handling enhancements. Actuarial system of our client extracts data from the various Worker’ Compensation data marts and prepares actuarial reports and statistics for management purview. We were involved with the maintenance of this application. A couple of the data marts are mentioned below.
  • Agents Consolidated Experience Reporting System - Containing Premium and Loss Data
  • Contains detailed financial transaction level activity. It is a data store for Ledger and statutory reporting and also contains calculations of Earned Premium.
  • It is a warehouse containing payment level claims data. Also contains information on Medical and Expense details at a summary level.
  • It is a rating and pricing analysis database, containing Policy, State, Location and Class level data. Contains written and earned premium amounts, Class codes by premium and Exposure by Class.
  • Contains policies issued from St. Paul and also serve as a Specialty back feed to SPC.
  • The project involved enhancements for consolidation of the Rate Adequacy process, Monthly Roll25 process and Predictive Modeling process.
  • The Project is based on system processes like-
  • The Predictive Modeling is a subsystem in the Actuarial Process. The existing process was having the Policy and State Level Information for these systems. We added the Class Level Information and some policy and state level calculations to them.
  • Apart from premium fields, we also added few loss level fields in existing process. We did changes for both TIC and SPC parts.
  • For Rate Adequacy systems we changed some Rate Adequacy JCLs for the 2008 run. We did small changes in the existing programs to include some Confidential data from which we prepared actuarial reports. we did changes in the program to include new infiles and also added some new fields from Confidential file to existing policy level and summarized the output. We took the existing process as reference and created a new one. we executed some programs after doing small changes for monthly and yearly process.
