SUMMARY:

As a full - stack developer with 6 years of Rails experience, I build systems using Ruby, Rails, HTML, CSS/SASS/SCSS, Javascript/Coffeescript, MemcacheD, Solr, Rspec, TestUnit, Capybara, Git, MySQL/PostgreSQL, RubyGems, Rails Engines, Heroku, and various other technologies that make sense for the specific project.
I was really into a video game called Street Fighter Alpha 2 and I couldn’t find a website that had all the codes for during the various combo-moves so I built one and uploaded it to geocities together with a hit counter.
The website was visited by a few thousand people and gave me a taste of being able to create things that others would find useful.
That has become the driving force for my career: creating useful things.
Today, with 13 years of experience building websites and 6 years working on Rails consulting on projects for organizations
I am intimately familiar with building systems using test driven development, scalable architecture and sound maintainability principles.
More importantly though, I have cultivated the ability to think beyond the requested featured to understand the real need so I can build systems that don’t just offer a ‘faster horse’, but instead deliver ‘cars’.

Responsibilities:

When I was brought in, Confidential had formed a partnership with eBay to sell products on their marketplace.
A proof-of-concept application had been built as well as successfully executed a pilot program.
My responsibility, together with a team of 2 other senior developers, was to get the application to be production-ready by holiday season and add functionality to get the application operations ready.
When the peak holiday season rolled around, transaction volumes grew from 4-figures per week to significant levels and the system performed flawlessly.
