- Monitored the intrusion prevention system confidential Network Security Manager for alerts on new attacks, malware, and botnet activity while creating filters to drop known false positives.
- Aided in conducting investigations and creating reports against suspects by analyzing highly sensitive information including communication in Microsoft Office Communicator as well as internet use patterns.
- Created a reverse shell access DLL Injector during low workloads, and achieved a scarily low detection rate of only 1/56 of the antiviruses on Total Virus detecting it as malicious. This was done by storing the reverse shell bytecode as hexadecimal values in a confidential, and then externally triggering the DLL.
- Researched various attacks detected on Confidential 's network: including setting up VMs mimicking the detected vulnerability (e.g. setting up a LAMP stack with a vulnerable outdated version of Apache, and deploying the application from the server where the attack was originally detected), and testing exploits manually when necessary to better understand the nature of the situation. The findings detailing the threat as well as any possible countermeasures were then documented and sent to employer.
- Accomplished piloting HP's web security scanner WebInspect and created a comprehensive document outlining requirements, installation steps, and features provided by the application in order to build a case to use HP WebInspect as an upgrade from the Confidential Security's AppScan software currently being used.
