Infrastructure Solutions Architect

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve stability issues on client facing application by correcting the default connection and Server IO timeout parameters used in Websphere.
  • Re-architected application website to operate on an open sourced platform. This involved designing a new parallel network path to utilize DMZ load balancers and Secure Reverse Proxy devices. I also introduced a new cookie-injection based session persistence solution that would ensure users would still access the application servers in the event we fail traffic over to another datacenter. Since we were changing the infrastructure, this project also involved a detailed review of all our firewall rules to document the existing connectivity points for our application and submitting compatible firewall rules for the new infrastructure. I also used the analysis of the firewall rules to build an infrastructure application diagram, which depicted the application flow, dependencies and external/internal connectivity points.
  • Worked with Oracle DBA team to implement a new service that utilizes the Oracle Transparent Application Failover TAF feature. By utilizing the service our application would automatically connect to the primary read-write Oracle RAC.
  • Migrated applications to self-hosted Citrix servers and reduced run-rate cost by $400K/year. I also worked with our offshore operations teams to enable access and perform application testing of our application in Citrix. I was also able to reduce the load on our Citrix servers by 30% be removing access for our users who had corporate issued laptops.
  • Datacenter migration into the Sprint Campus.
  • Security group permission standardization: Ensured permissions for 100+ LAN folders were correctly mapped from one domain to another and migrated more than 800 users with zero loss of access.
  • By aggressively managing our total cost of ownership chargebacks, I was able to resolve an incorrect storage backup policy, which resulted in $500K/year savings.

Integration Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Migration of 300 distributed servers and a mainframe from 3rd party service provider to JPMorgan facilities and support teams.
  • Partnered with app-dev teams to define requirements and implemented a robust monitoring solution Foglight for our entire distributed infrastructure.
  • Implemented new process for notifying RPS leadership team of high severity issues.
  • Implemented process improvements by creating templates in the change management system for our users to create repeatable change records.
  • Implemented process improvements by centralizing end-user request systems. By utilizing the new processes, our users were able to submit requests to the appropriate request fulfillment groups. Desktop/SW request, application access, LAN access, Mainframe access.
  • Documented Technology Recovery Action Plan TRAP documents for all of our applications. This document is used to successfully perform Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery for our application and infrastructure components in a true and simulated DR event.
  • Corrected performance issues with a client facing website. I first developed a test script for the application and documented the response times for key tasks. I then worked with our performance engineering team to utilize the OPNET tool and determine a root cause. The delay was coming from new DB2 queries that were introduced after a recent software release.
