Improved performance of Avaya data acquisition application in middle-tier server. Application acquired call center performance data from over 100 disparate call center servers. - Lead developer for (PBL) Profit-By-Line System, Progressive's internally developed financial reporting application. This system extracts revenue and expense amounts from the General Ledger system (Peoplesoft), and apportions costs to products based on various utilization statistics. The final outputs of this application are Income Statements for each of the products, by company and state. Allocation results are loaded to Analysis Services for historical, detailed analysis.
- Lead developer for the creation and implementation of the Expense Data Mart. Created ETL process to extract from the General Ledger on a daily basis, and transform/append the results to the data mart. I worked closely with financial analysts to balance results to the GL and legacy reporting systems. This data mart became the standard application in Progressive for analysis of spending patterns.
DATA WAREHOUSE CONSULTANT
- Designed star schema in support of gas deal accounting initiative. Logical model was designed in Erwin using Modelmart to describe data sources from Enterprise Data Layer. Led interviews with customers and subject-matter experts to gather requirements.
- Responsible for the support and continued development of a 350 GB Data Warehouse in Confidential DBMS. This Data Mart contained Call Detail, Billing, and Order data. Responsible for maintaining production Extract, Transformation and Load (ETL) code (Perl, UNIX shell, RISQL) in a very dynamic, rapid growth environment. In addition, I was the primary on-call contact for resolving issues in the production environment.
- I performed the upgrade of the Confidential database from version 5.1 to 6.0. Created process to synchronize Test and Production environments. Created scripts to administer database environment. Documented turnover requirements to standardize the communications necessary to implement new datamarts. Implement 6 new datamarts.

- Responsibilities were increased to include the infrastructure development of UNIX (HP-UX) environment. Infrastructure development enabled growth of the environment to support a 150 GB data warehouse. Made purchasing recommendations and managed spending on $480,000 capital acquisition to build the environment from conception to production roll-out.
- Initial assignment was improving the nightly batch processing performance. The single Distribution Center for the company was regularly at risk of not having the pick-lists for 400 warehouse employees by 7:30 A.M. deadline. Improved batch performance so that on average, pick-lists were available by 1:30 A.M.
