DEDUCE: Represented Department of Anesthesiology in the requirements analysis discussions for the Duke Enterprise Data Warehouse Web Portal - DEDUCE [Duke Enterprise Data Unified Content Explorer], which uses Oracle, Java and Cognos technologies. Operational data is integrated into the Data Warehouse from Duke Hospitals and Clinics using HL7 interface. The data warehouse produces reports about various subject areas – Diagnosis, Procedures [CPT, ICD9 codes], Labs, Orders and Medications, Patient Demographics etc. Collaborated with database analysts and statisticians to analyze large datasets obtained from data warehouse – Decision Support Repository DSR, perioperative systems – SIS Surgical Information System [Oracle] and Innovian Anesthesia System [SQL Server]. The information includes the peri-operative continuum from pre-op, intra-op, post-op and PACU.

NORG:Enhanced the data model of a legacy application consisting of over 200 tables for transforming it into web application, by establishing additional relationships for improving performance and features. Exposed it as a web application, using Java Spring and Struts based framework that I developed for an earlier project, Charge Voucher.

CRF: Created conceptual, logical and physical data model from scratch for a paper based Case Report Form – CRF, [~200 pages, 3000 fields] and collaborated with operations manager and clinical coordinators for developing PeRiGren [Perioperative Genomics Research], a web application. Mapped the logical data model to a physical data model and assisted the DBAs in the creation of scripts for a physical design. Led the JAVA developers to build the web application using MVC design, spring framework, JSP/JSTL libraries, struts, Hibernate Data Access Objects in the JDBC connectivity layer, JAVA servlets, Eclipse, Tomcat and Oracle database. 

Charge Voucher: Created conceptual, logical and physical data model from scratch, based on the requirements from physicians, operation managers and business staff for a billing application – Charge Voucher accessible in the Operating Rooms of the Duke Hospitals. Mapped the logical data model to a physical data model and assisted the DBAs in the creation of scripts for a physical design. The end users of this system are physicians, residents, nursing assistants and financial analysts. Built the web application using MVC design, spring framework, JSP/JSTL libraries, struts, Hibernate Data Access Objects in the JDBC connectivity layer, JAVA servlets, Eclipse, Tomcat and Oracle database. The application allows physicians, residents, CRNAs to submit vouchers and financial analysts to access vouchers for billing.

DUNCL: Created conceptual, logical and physical data model by analyzing the Duke University Neuro Cognitive Laboratory [DUNCL] tests, a paper document and collaborating with neuro testers and medical director for developing DUNCL, a web application. Mapped the logical data model to a physical data model and assisted the DBAs in the creation of scripts for a physical design. The application allows neuro testers to score battery of tests that patients participated in. Publications Database: Created conceptual, logical and physical data model from the requirements specification by collaborating with investigators and business staff for the PublicationDatabase. The application allows users to upload publication details from pubmed [NIH database] and enable the management to track publications and award bonuses to the researchers on their scientific contributions. Theapplication allows users to submit protocols for IRB approvals, thereby sending emails to operations manager and medical directors for final approvals. PiReports: Created conceptual, logical and physical data model from the requirements specification by collaborating with investigators, coordinators, operations managers and medical director for an enrollment/finance reporting system PiReports. Mapped the logical data model to a physical data model and assisted the DBAs in the creation of scripts for a physical design. The application allows users to enroll patients for clinical trials, investigators to view the enrollments and funding information, medical director, operations managers and business staff to generate reports regarding investigator’s financial and enrollment data.
