A need existed to offer a consistent solution for Walgreens to validate, cleanse, enhance, merge, purge and integrate all of the customer records. In addition, the need existed to keep all basic customer information in sync throughout all systems of the company to help create consistency of the Customer information.
  • The scope of Phase 2 was to design, develop and implement a Service Oriented Architecture real-time interfaces whereby source systems can integrate and exchange Customer data with the CDI Hub bi-directionally. While most of the planning i.e. business vision and architecture was already completed in the earlier phase of the project, there were still some business teams which required education on CDI and its benefits. Project Description

  • US department of health and human resources HRSA runs a 340B drugs pricing program. This program requires drug manufacturers or wholesalers to provide discounted drugs to qualifying health care organization or covered entities at significantly discounted price. After enrollment in 340B program these covered entities can choose to dispense drugs onsite in their own premise, or through a 3rd party pharmacy such as Walgreens. The 3rd party pharmacies dispense these drugs to patients on their behalf and charge a dispensing fee from covered entities.
  • Walgreens participates in this program through a 3-way relationship between covered entities and drug wholesalers. Walgreens dispenses drugs to patients of covered entities and get it replenished by wholesalers at no cost to Walgreens. The wholesalers bill the covered entities for the cost of the drug.
  • The 340B Complete application identifies 340B dispenses at participating store/pharmacy location. Each dispensed drug is accumulated in the application till it reaches an orderable packaging threshold. Upon reaching the package threshold, a purchase order is placed to the wholesalers for its replenishment. The application also generates invoices to charge the dispensing fee.
