I have been performing in lead modeling and architecture roles for large organizations. Much of this work has been in the Master Data Management, Data Governance, Reference Data and Analytical and Transactional Data realms. I have driven the Master Data Management Process for several large corporations, including those that operate internationally. This included taking into account not only the needs of managing and coordinating resources around the globe but also international considerations of language, currency, calendar and data typing. I have guided the effort from presentation of conceptual and initial logical models but through continuing development of the logical, physical and semantic models as well as helping design and coordinate the overall architecture. An emphasis was placed on working with and coordinating with the ETL, Unit Test, Quality Assurance and Business Analysis teams, driving standards and compliance around Meta Data, Data Stewardship, Reference and Master Data. I have also worked with DBA teams to ensure maximum throughput and value finding a balance between loading, auditing and reporting requirements of large multi hundred terabyte databases. Modeling has been in industry leading tools like Erwin and ErStudio among others and I have worked with teams using most of the leading ETL and BI tools like DataStage, Informatica, MicroStrategy, MS/SSAS, COGNOS. There have been many occasions when I have joined projects in progress to affect positive changes and improve design and processes.
